The decline of the Italian auto industry in general comes mostly from the Agnelli family's wish to distance itself from car manufacturing and concentrate on more profitable investments.

Albon is hurting Redbull and needs Togo!

—The latter is true and can even be said after the Eifel Grand Prix. In the last five races (starting from the Belgian GP) Renault has scored 78 points, two points more than the 76 of Red Bull Racing
. A good step from Renault, which is still on the hunt for third place among the constructors.

"It's very close together, but I think we are in good shape at the moment. I think we're faster than Racing Point and McLaren in qualifying and the race, but it's not going to be easy to keep the lead," concludes Permane. Renault is currently fifth with 114 points. They are right behind McLaren that has 116 points and Racing Point is still close by with 120 points.—

IIRC:: There was once an instant in time where more was expected out of Fisichella was expected out of Schumacher

Why do I get the feeling that Renault's biggest problem is "back marker mentality?" They just seem unwilling to make the commitment to building a car that can race up front. Ricardo is smart to move to McLaren...they really do want to race up front and they are trying to get the max from their team and design. Now al they need is a better engine.

Racing Point blocked Abu Dhabi test for Alonso

Oct.31 - Racing Point vetoed Fernando Alonso's participation in the end of season 'young driver test' in Abu Dhabi.

Spaniard Alonso, to return to Formula 1 as Renault becomes Alpine for 2021, made his debut in the 2020 car recently for a 100 km 'filming day' in Barcelona.

He is trackside this weekend at Imola.

"I'm happy to be back," 39-year-old Alonso told Movistar on Friday. "I have followed the team from home but it's not the same. So we have an important list of things to do this weekend."

Alonso is pushing for every opportunity to drive, admitting that it is taking him some time to re-adjust to the pace of the sport after two years out.

He will drive a two-year-old Renault in Bahrain next week.

"Unfortunately, in this sport you cannot test - only with simulators," he said. "There will only be a day and a half of pre-season testing per driver next year so it's difficult to prepare."

Renault wanted to give Alonso a full test in the 2020 car in Abu Dhabi, but rules dictate that the drivers involved should be inexperienced.

Team boss Cyril Abiteboul said he asked his rival teams for an exemption.

"We noticed a collaborative spirit, and we believed it was possible," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Then one team got in the way - it was Racing Point. And so we won't have Fernando on the track. It's part of the sport."

Alonso hasn't driven an F1 car since 2014 :p ... I think he qualifies as inexperienced.

Alonso hasn't won since 2014, but his last season in F1 was in 2018 with McLaren.

Apparently he´ll be doing more important things at Renault, i.e. sell cars.

I´ll miss him: his feud with Dr. Marko was a good show.
