YIKES!!! Apparently, the seller must've read my FOMO rant too. My bad.

$140k is a STRONG bid for this car. Seller messed up imho.

Wow, how the heck did the seller NOT sell that car? Just look at the engine bay.

You can hear the "lifter tick" sound in the video, which is likely the headers having a crack one or both of them.

Regarding red car... was odd from the get-go to see it on Pcar vs BAT. Now we know why. BAT would never agree to a reserve that high. Delusional seller.

Something is very fishy about people outbidding each other in 5-figure increments....

Apparently results at Mecum have been pretty crazy...so who knows, possibly real bids. In the grand scheme of things though...$130k for a 355 doesn't seem so bad when a same year 993 Turbo with 20k miles would be north of $200k easily.

I am totally OK with good 355's pushing the overall market up, as that lifts my boat too. My 348 is very presentable, maintenance is up to date, addressing the last annoying little problem as soon as my mechanic can get her in the shop (parking brake), Nouvalari can (plus OEM one), chrome 360 wheels (with the OEM wheels also), and mid 20's on mileage. I figure if solid gated 355s start pulling 125+ (and the Pcar site one is *not* a solid car--too many questions) that has to drag me up into the 75-80K range. Maybe even higher.

Looks like I'm back on the hunt...someone sniped the car over the weekend while they were waiting for the wire transfer deposit to clear. Bahhhh

Wait, so you bought a car and wired the money, and they sold it to somebody else while waiting for it to clear?

I have a 1998 f355 Berlinetta for sale for $78,000 in almost brand new condition. Competing with Scottsdale Ferrari who has the same car in yellow/black interior for $89,000. Mileage on mind is 30,000 and the dealer is 15,000 miles. Dealer car has 8 owners.

Not in the USA. Called the dealer on Friday, got the information I needed. Told them I wanted it and will send deposit to my broker who will remit it to them. Sent them confirmation wire was sent within 24 hours...they said they can't confirm or hold it until wire arrives. Monday was a bank holiday in the country...wire arrived Tuesday...broker called to confirm all is good and they said it sold on the weekend.

Broker is partially at fault IMO. He should have been more clear with them...or at least done me a solid considering the cars I've bought through him over the years and just fronted the deposit for me.

In either regard I'm pissed and frustrated. :D

    Back to the drawing board...

Some other options for consideration are:
White on Red F1 GTB...lowish miles. Clean car. Rare colour/combo.
TDF on Tan Manual GTB...average miles. Average condition.
Blu Le Mans on Tan Manual GTB, carbon buckets...average miles. Good shape...unsolicited...therefore the most expensive ask I've ever seen for a non-challenge 355.

That was about the time they were being pushed as time bombs. Valve guides, headers, cats, wiring, stickies, And OMG, a spider? With those top mechanicals and power seats?

No point. Small dealer / race car shop out of Japan. They mostly deal with 930/964 Porsche's the 355 was an anomaly for them.

Just sucks after finding "the one" after this long of a hunt and having it slip away over something so stupid.

    Such is life!
