This a partly restored, partly reconstituted, failed restoration/part out. I am very happy it is being saved but I would think twice before making this the basis of a project. Especially considering its likely relatively high sale price.

    Just my 2c.

    Regards,

    Art S.

Kerry, I look forward to seeing you and your car!

I've already spoken with my vintage Ferrari guy about putting this car together. He is interested in taking it on, and would probably be cheaper than Dennison, but will also take at least a year to year and a half. Also, I doubt Dennison would be willing to work to "bitsa" standards.

I suspect this car will go for more than I'm willing to pay, based on the current bidding, but I guess you never know.

I'm curious about the condition of the motor that is with it. While it certainly needs to be gone through, if it was gone through at some point in the last 30 years, that might not be too bad. In other words, if machining was done, pistons are good, etc. Again, for my purposes it doesn't need to be made perfect.

Also, to be clear, I would expect to spend 6 figures on this car to get it running and driving. So I'm not completely expecting to do it on the cheap.

Sorry Don, didn't see the disc brakes as originally on the car. I still think it takes another 200k or so to put the car together. This is not an easy project to manage and hard to decide which direction to take with different parts me thinks.

1493 is roughly the switchover point from drums to discs, so this car would have been well into the disc brake production

I had heard that as well. 1493 is drum brakes, inside plug, with twin Lucas distributors.

I am sorry for being off topic. 1493GT is a drum brake car, but it looks like the transition has already begun, judging from the handbrake lever.

Well said. I like these cars. Fantasy Junction has one that has continuously dropped in price over the years that I continue to admire. Out of my range but your project idea sounds like a good one to me.

Y'all should listen to my story about passing up a restored 250PF for a Boxer. During 2005 they were both priced identical, at 75K.

Sounds like Shaughnessy has the original engine, or knows where to find it. If someone reunites it with the original engine and puts $250k in it, that won't be too bad. No one (other than Tom) will get rich off it, but it will be a nice car when it's done.

Funny that it was once broken up for parts, and now is being brought back to life.
