I have a 86 Mondial. Found a beautiful set of TSW wheels I like. Currently have a 17 inch wheel. Does anyone have an 18x8.5 with a 40 mm offset on their Mondial? If not does anyone know if that size wheel would fit. Thinking a 245/40/18 tire should be close to stock diameter. Any insight would be great. Thanks. Doug.

17" is the best on this car. With 18" you have to put thinner tires, witch you will feel in the ride.

I have 360 modulars on mine. starfish rims look pretty good also. Some folks buy 4 front rims and it is plug and play. I like the fat rears so I had 1/2 inch cut off the back flange. Not a big deal and looks pretty cool. I also installed adjustable coil overs from a 348 and lowered it a bit. Good luck Image Unavailable, Please Login

the whole wheel fitment game can take a lot of effort. I have two mondials both of which I have at one point stock 360 f/r rears on. I don't have the 360 wheel specs off hand but you can use those as a refence to compare to the wheel spec you have. IIRC the stock 360 rear is a 18x10? so you are fine on the width. There is a lot of room back there for width if the offest works. And don't get too caught up in the offset 25MM is 1" the difference between say 50mm and 25mm seems like a lot but in the real world it isnt. Most F cars need the wheels pushed further out IMO so playing with the offset is possible, there are always spacers you can use etc. What wheel did you find BTW?

Sorry I don't know the numbers. They are a set of stock 360 staggered wheels. Fronts are fine. I actually ran the rears a while and they would only scrub on a hard bump. Had 1/2 inch cut off of the back. Be very careful because if any more is cut the rim will hit the shock. Also had to use 360 lugs which are much longer. Then cut 1/2 inch off rear lugs and threaded them deeper. Yes it was a royal pain but I believe it was worth the effort.

    stock starfish wheels are

    F 18x8 32MM offset
    R 18x10.5 39 MM offset

Ive got two sets unmodified on two mondials and no issues, so if the wheels you found are close to that spec they will fit.

I personally think they rears fit perfectly, if I had the time I'd suck the fronts in a little bit (mill off the mounting hub) but they are close enough for now.

You can also find some tire size calculators online to play with the profiles and widths if you like how the 17" fit on your car it will tell you the diameter and then you can play with the 18" wheel to find a tire size that replicates what you have.

I had starfish rims on mine. They looked fantastic, but when the tires needed replacing, I opted for the original look. I still have the starfish wheels, and can sell them to you if interested.

Just saying you can still get proper Mondial tyres

    https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/ferrari/mondial.html

I'm not saying don't do it of course, its up to you, but its worth being aware that if you fit 17" and 18" wheels the smaller side wall diminishes the amount of knocks and vibration from the road that your tyre is able to absorb, so you will not get as nice ride on an 18" wheel as you will with a 415mm TRX wheel. The TRX is pretty clever technology, and of course Micheln quality.

348 wheels are my favorite on the Mondial. I think they look better on the Mondial than they do the 348 to be honest!

I agree with the Tyre guy. TRX are a fabulous tyre and cannot be beaten for high speed touring.
There is plenty of side wall. They are comfortable. They grip.
The whole business about low profile has so much bull **** attached.
Unless you are on the track you will not find a better tyre than TRX.
Also as a general comment the best look your Ferrari will ever have is the one
it came out of the factory with.
