Belgium industrialist and Ferrari race driver Jean Blaton ("Beurlys") passed away, aged 91 years. He owned and raced many Ferraris and participated no fewer than 14 times at the 24 h of Le Mans. He was an extremely loyal client of Jacques Swaters' Garage Francorchamps. Here is a pic I took of Blaton at Spa-Francorchamps in September 1992. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's 1321 GT, the 250 GT LWB TDF Berlinetta which Blaton raced at Le Mans 1959, with co-driver Léon Dernier ("Eldé"). Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login

RIP, "Beurlys"! One of the last true Gentlemen Drivers, followed his friend Jacques Swaters who left this world on December 10th 2010. Jean Blaton died exactly 10 years and 1 week after him. Here at Le Mans 1959. He shared the 250 GT LWB TdF #1321 GT with Eldé ( Leon Dernier) and won in category GT3.0. In the first picture, Beurlys is about to enter the car.
