There was a BB512 "advertised" previously here with 200,000 miles, and still going strong. Although six clutches later. too bad about being busted!
How much life does a 48K mile 2000 550 Maranello have left? Car has been used for a lot of highway use... I'm not a mechanic and so rely on experts to fix my cars but I have a pal who collects and races cars: he has a 550, an AC Cobra and a Viper. I've been to a few meetings with him and met a guy who races his 250 GTO (I drooled). I asked the "How can you risk damaging this beautiful and irreplaceable car?". His reply has heartened me many times when I worry about my car. He said, "There is nothing you can do to a car that can't be fixed, you just have to want to fix it enough."
I have just about 100.000 miles (156.000 kms.) on mine now. Runs like a new engine. Will still do 200 mph. or 331 kph. on my euro speedometer to be exact. Any day of the week. Put a new AC compressor in at about 125.000 kms. These things are really dependable engines that can take a lot of miles. My worry is that they get too hot in traffic when it is hot outside, and that might damage more than doing 130 mph. all day long. But with new stronger fans and 575 fan shroud, that problem is gone! Fun reading this thread after all these years!! Erik
Great thread to revive now that it’s been a bunch of miles down the road. Cmon who has the hi mile rigs now? Just got my 456 at “high” 48k mi
My 1st post in quite some time....'02 575 with 51k on it. While it hasn't been driven or even started since mid-June it had been running fabulously. It always has.
I’m going to have you arrested for car abuse. How dare you! You’re supposed to go out with a brandy sniffer, a cigar, and look at your car. How dare you drive it! I bet you even have paint chips on your car. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
No chips, just a few micro scratches... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login One day I'll get around to doing a paint correction.
