View attachment 3048753 Watch the labor laws! And dont forget PPE. Quite the initiative you've taken on. I'm looking forward to seeing the place at least functional in Spring.
Being a mechanical contractor and in the construction industry for 30 years I can say your renovations and improvements aren’t cheap. You are doing a great, fast and efficient job. New place looks great Dan! Good luck and prosperity!
Thanks for photo-documenting this project for us. Very fascinating, for sure. 1. Did you have a project/construction manager, or did you manage the project yourself? 2. Did you use a design/build firm for the project? 3. Exterior signage is scheduled for completion/installation soon? The results, so far, are very impressive. Congratulations and good luck in your new shop! And, more importantly, don't forget to invite us to your open house when all is completed.
The place is looking great lots of floor space and parking best of luck you are going to have one fabulous shop can’t wait to see it full of cars Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
1. No I had to do it as fast and cheap as possible. I worked 106 days straight until it was complete and took the week of Christmas to recharge. 2. BMW NA did the shop layout for us. We tested the layout with pickup trucks to make sure worst case scenario it would flow. We had to hire an Architect/expeditor to push the permits through with the town, EPA, and NY DEC. 3. Right now the entire shop is at capacity inside and out so we don't have signs up to avoid foot traffic. We have to take care of the customers that got tied up in the fire/relocation first before taking on new work. This year were not going to take on new customers and just service our existing client base. The collision shop will open up to the public once we get our process ironed out.

When the fire first happened, a few customers called in to share their experiences with business insurance claims and give me advice on how to handle the situation. One of the first things someone said is: “You have to decide if you can save yourself right now, because your insurance company is not going to pay you and this will end up in court.” I thought he was crazy, we have a premium umbrella policy with all the bells and whistles with a carrier that knows exactly what we do. 7 months later we have not received a settlement offer. Last night we finally removed all of our damaged property and handed back the keys. I'm beyond grateful for the amazing group of guys I get to work with everyday and a rock solid client base that was not only understanding, but offered great advice on how to handle multiple aspects of this disaster. Eventually we will be made whole and everyone responsible will be held accountable. In the mean time for my sanity I have to put this behind me and just move forward in a better location. This year we will not be taking on any new clients, only service our existing client base and will become a factory certified collision center for two major OEMs. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank god for a well built fire wall that saved us. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
For flooring I ended up deciding on the BMW approved german tile thats used in the service drives. Epoxy just doesn't hold up in a high traffic commercial atmosphere. The tile takes about 8-12 weeks to arrive so this will be a summer project. Image Unavailable, Please Login
wow, I have not been following sorry to hear Dan . btw thanks for John W (ZB) contact he took care of my claim.
Dan I didn't realize this had happened. Simply terrible. Your threads over the years have been a huge asset (and great entertainment) for the community and your can-do attitude in the face of adversity is an inspiration. Good for you for pressing forward and not letting a disaster stop you. Best wishes for success in the new location.
Just now seeing this thread, what a mess! Glad everything is working out! Looks like the new building is coming along nicely! Great transformation!
The new place looks fantastic! Feel for you as I had a substantial fire in my plastics compounding plant many decades ago (during my daughters 5th birthday party). Learned a lot about business interruption insurance. The emotions of it all are unexplainable. You did remarkably well here. Any new pics you can share?
