If the software update don't cure, ask to put back to the old software
I'm not sure why I never posted the final resolution here - my apologies. It took way to long, but it was finally traced back to a faulty fuel injector. It took a lot of back and forth with Ferrari headquarters to finally get it resolved. The new injector rail had to be shipped from Italy. Of course, me being the customer focused person that I am would have figured Ferrari or the Dealer would have covered an expedited shipping, but of course not. It took weeks to get the part from Italy. I ended up missing the entire fall driving season as I think the dealer had the car for over 2 months.
They identified it by analyzing the exhaust gas mixture for each bank of cylinders. The dealer did not make the conclusion - they sent the analysis to Ferrari who instructed them what to change.
I was asked to not disclose how the software was handled. Considering my relationship with the dealer, I would prefer to honor my word that I would not.
So, essentially what they did over in Italy was make a new software specifically for his 458. It is the first LaFerrari software on a 458. How brilliant.
