Beg to differ on the 488 and rich people. I just chose to blow my kids inheritance on a ‘18 spider and I’m certainly not in that income category. However I have rebuilt V12 and other motors and it’s nice to have something that only needs my attention behind the wheel and not under the wheel

458 is a great car, not sure there is a car to replace it as you are always going to be making trade-offs somewhere.

    Scud/F430 +analog/racecar -modern
EVO RWD +V10, looks, modern -driver connection
F12 +V12 -Nimbleness, less exotic looks
F8 +modern, refinement, speed -exhuast note, "fizz"
McLaren +Butterfly doors, something different -exhuast note, reliability?
    V12 Vantage/DBS Manual +V12, Manual connection -Nimbleness/sharpness, capability

Seems to me you're begging for a 458 Speciale, possibly a 430 Scud :) Just listen to a standard 430 with a Tubi exhaust in person and your mind will remember that sound for months if not years. You want some rawness, high revs and no turbos to feel excitement - that's what the Scud/Speciale etc series cars are best at.

Congrats! The DBS will make a perfect compliment to the Ferrari.

This stable has both a DBS 6 speed and F430, and love how different they are. Manual for when I'm craving stick, F1 for the paddles. Mid engined V8, front-engined V12. Sporty and GT. Having multiple cars means you always have one to drive when one is in service!

    LOL!!

    I totally agree!

When I owned my 458. I also owned an F12, 997.2 GT3 RS and a 991.1 GT3 RS and I can confirm that the 458 was my least favorite car of the 4.

As for the clowns that make out that a 488 is on par with a California. You guys need to have your heads read!!

I can tell you I drove my 458 at 10 tenths and it was not capable!

Clearly you guys have never driven a 488 at 10 tenths!

Don’t take it from me. Just watch what Matt Farrah says.... the guy knows how to hustle and he knows a good car!

May the Horse be with you

Driving in a spirited fashion on gently curving roads in the video is no driver challenge and is not driving at 10/10s. Anyone who drives beyond 7-8/10s of these car's ability on a public road is in the careless zone. That is what tracks are for.

it depends on what you want out of a car. i drive race cars and for my street cars i prefer something that's somewhat comfortable and provides some theatre. the 458 does that and i think its a great car for that purpose. if you want a track car, its pretty bad and you're better off with a porsche. the 488 and f8 are better cars in every way except engine sound, so that's the main consideration.

overall, it really depends on what you want out of the car. the closest to 458 in terms of feeling connected and driving theatre is probably the gt3 manual given its NA 9k red line. other than that, there aren't many NA cars these days if that's what you're looking for. GT350r maybe.

could also try an LFA, those are pretty sweet too.

I had the same dilemma. I ended up adding a 720S and a 991.2 GT2 RS to the garage. After those cars arrived, I drove the 458 less and less and sold it. The 720s is so much more versatile and stupid fast compared to the 458, while sometimes controversial, it has so much on road presence and gets the looks. My experience thus far has been my 720S has been more reliable than my 458 was. The GT2 RS is just a brute, sometimes a little much. But it provides a unique experience. I contemplated a Pista, had a few opportunities to pick one up, but the 720 really pushed the envelope in the midengine V8 super car space like the 458 had done when it was released. So I haven’t pulled the trigger to date. Like others have said, a Speciale might be a good next step.

it is nice to have a V8 Ferrari in the garage. Nothing beats it. Maybe you could go "backwards" and check out a Scuderia....that will DEFINITELY get the hairs on your neck raised. Even a Challenge Stradale...
The GT Porsches are great. Different from the Ferrari in every which way. I have a 360 and now on my second GT3. I get equal enjoyment out of both of them, just different cars. To add, not in replacement of, is a 458 Speciale or a V12 Ferrari.

I know that there are a few people here on this forum that remember when the series one XKE showed up at the Jaguar dealer.
Or the first 911. Mercedes Gullwing, etc. We were blown away by what we saw and as for me, it really didn't matter whether it
had huge horsepower. Just the look of those cars made me dream some one day owning one.
Today, there is a glut of high performance cars that all share crazy horsepower, with very similar shapes and all the bells and whistles
anyone could want. Count me as one who loves my 458 and I really don't think about getting into anything more powerful.
This car puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
We are living in a very different world, with so many choices of incredible high performance sports cars.
Outside of tracking these automobiles, I am not sure where the benefits of hyper horsepower can really be enjoyed.
Anyway, this is in no way a criticism of the choices anyone makes.
I am just happy with what I have.
