That's the issue, the belt size. It's easy enough to source a single grove cluthc for the York but it's off a Deera tractor..only Ferrari unit has the metric belt v groove. Time to make some or go with a Sanden
Martin, I think the plates linking the compressor to the pulley are working in tension. If you reverse the pulley direction, they need to be fitted to the other side else they'll buckle under compression load: Image Unavailable, Please Login What do you think - could that be the reason? Best regards Urs
Good afternoon all, Here is machined and pressed outer pulley like Martin suggests, works fine! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Afternoon, You are correct, the plates would have to moved around in order to be ok. The pulley in the picture is meant to work clockwise. On a 328 the compressor turns counter clockwise. John.
well... those bars do go the same way as my pic, don't they? So it should work fine. Did you add Gates belt type pulley on a different clutch?
Hi John, looks good. Did you perform the job yourself? Did you add something like Loctite 648 or is ist just a press fit? Best from Germany Martin
Indeed. Recently we tested a just 40mm diameter loose fit of 30mm length assembled with Loctite 648 after 48 hrs. curing time on a hydraulic press. There were 70 kN shear force necessary to break it. Best from Germany Martin
Afternoon Martin, nice hearing from you! No, I had it done at a machine shop. Nope, no "glue", once pressed together(core and pulley), a hole was drilled at the union of both parts and a 5mm pin was pressed in for safety. It's been holding for 5 years now, so far so good. As you know I live in Southern Spain (really hot weather), A/C is used 6 to 7 months yearly. John
