I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer but it sure does look like something oughta be connected on that other pole.

Are there any dingle-dangles a-danglin in the nearby area?

I'm surprised you were getting any reading without that second wire. What colour wire is currently on the sender?

That is correct as is. There is nothing that goes on that blade connector. The senders do go bad. I had to replace mine a couple years ago as the reading was erratic too. IIRC ~10k miles.

2 terminals on the sender, one for the gauge (a linear resistance proportional to pressure) and one for a warning light (on/off at a certain pressure). 360 dashboard is smart enough to determine when to light the warning lamp so the second terminal is unused.
    Common problem, replace the sender.

I see that the case provides the earth for the sender. Make sure you are getting good contact both on the wire terminal and between the engine block and the case.

Interesting. According to the wiring diagrams, the 360 has a (single) grey/yellow wire attached to the sender (and must be attached to the sender's "G" terminal). On the 348, 355, 456, 550, Testarossa, 512TR, etc, the grey/yellow wire is connected to the "WK" terminal on the sender and goes to the warning light. The second wire on these cars is attached to the "G" terminal on the sender and goes to the gauge (only).

If it's anything like the other cars, you will need a very big spanner (24mm ?) with a 10 foot extension and a blowtorch to get it free :D

What would be the procedure for this? Can I remove the left rear tire? Or will I have to disassemble some parts of the rear engine?

Not sure why you would need to remove a tire....The normal procedure is to remove the oil filter and get at it with a 24mm wrench, but I found a 24mm thin bike wrench will get in there and loosen it without removing the filter, then you can back it out by hand. If it still acts up after the replacement then the stepper motor in the gauge cluster may be the culprit.

Oh got it!!! That fits in there?? Seems like the area in the engine would not allow the tool to fit there

Also, get the silicone sender condom from ricambiamerica.com ....helps keep the heat off of it, which is why it tends to fail in the first place.

I've tried a number of penetrants to no effect, even soaking overnight. All they seem to do is make the sender more slippery (and makes your spanner slip off). The only way I could get mine off was with a heat gun and a good ring spanner stuck on the end of an open ended spanner for extra leverage (with a rag tied around the end to protect your hand). Are you familiar with the double spanner technique?

When it finally lets go (with a loud crack), you will probably have a heart attack :D
