There will be a many purists put off by Ferrari making an SUV, and maybe even a few buyers. That will however be compensated by the 20,000+ sales of the SUV when they finally have it. The only reason it takes so long for Ferrari is because they don't have access to a platform like Bentley/Lamborghini/Rolls-Royce and have to do more development. That's it.

They could "borrow" a SUV platform from Maserati, Alfa Rome, or even Jeep.
Ferrari and FCA are independent companies, but share some common history.

I'm pretty sure they will start out with the Levante/Stelvio platform, just like Lamborghini did with the Audi !8.

The Ferrari diehard clients would be horrified by the idea of seeing "their" prancing horse logo on a SUV.
Ferrari drivers, from all over the world, form a family.
But that's something you don't understand.

Could be, but Ferrari has to take a pragmatic view and ensure its survival.
To do that, you have to follow the market trend and adopt new technologies.
The writting has been on the wall for several years already.

That’s an interesting observation but won’t make any difference. What are Ferrari’s clients going to do? Abandon the brand and go somewhere else? There is no where else to go. No brand alternatives. Ferrari will do just fine and thrive with this thing. I hate it, but plenty of housewives will love it.

Ferrari will stay the same, keep its exclusivity and remain a very desirable luxury brand.
Next to high performance berlinettas, Ferrari will also offer high quality SUVs that won't be cheap !

I thought the same thing when I heard that Porsche would make an SUV. Guess what? It's a fine vehicle and it's been essential to their survival.

    Things change . . . things evolve.
