I drove it from Vegas to LA today with the top down all the way. I have 420 miles on it now. At 500 it gets all its power so I'll wait until I really get to see what it's like.

I have to say this... people are just blown away with the looks in this color combo.

Anybody have a projection of what total 2020 C8 model production will be? Maybe 10,000 cars? What will coupe/convertible split be? Maybe 95%/5%?

I'm waiting to cross over the first 500mile mark to give it a fair review. I'm at like 480 as of today I think.

20 miles until you can unleash the Beast.

Heard from the broker I sold Rob's Boss 302 to, that they are really fast and fun to drive. He has had 2 come through already.

The convertible top works really well. I drive it topless 99% of the time.

20,181 cars were at status 3000 when Chevrolet announced that only cars at status 3000 would be built for 2020. My car is 13525. HTC. It was built on October 20th. I should see it in 2 or 3 weeks.

20181 seems like a lot compared to the 1970 1/2 and 1972 GM low production key dates for muscle cars and vettes.

I would not be mothballing a 2020 production year car in the hopes it will be worth retirement money sometime in the future, but I'm sure there will be many, many who do.

Would love to drive one and hopefully someone I know will get one and give me the chance or someone I don't know. :)

Does it offer that much more open-air experience than the regular top or is it a much more convenient way to get there.

I have only sat in a coupe with the top off. I didn't drive it. In my 458 spider I didn't really feel like I was in a convertible. It seemed like I was down in a shell of some kind. But with this one I do feel like I'm in a convertible when driving. And the view out the back over your shoulder is really easy. In the coupe the view is really restricted.

From what I can see online, there's a lot of buffeting at highway speeds with the targa off. With the convertible with the rear window down, there's very little.

But if I had a targa there is no way I would be driving so much topless. Its just too much work for short trips. I like just pressing the button and even doing it before I finish rolling to a stop.

My understanding is the same guys making the mechanism for Ferrari and McLaren are making this one as well. It does work a lot like the Macs.

I talked to a Corvette writer who wanted to buy clay model shots and GM said yeah for $200 a picture. i thought car companies were in business to sell cars. And these writers are writing books about their design evolution etc. So why make it hard for them? I think if American car companies disappear (as Olds and Pontic did) it will be partly because they prevented writers from writing bout their cars. Oh maybe there's one or two books out on the C8 already but I wonder if those writers paid for pictures or those were more joint public relations projects (typical of those is they come out before the car hits the showrooms so of course there's no discussion of any problems and how they were solved) In the trade those are called "puff pieces."

I hope the ones on top are not the extra-cost upgrade version! They look like temporary "paint shop" wheels to avoid damage to the good wheels.

I have an orange convertible coming in the next couple weeks and have been offered frankly insane numbers for the car from dealer friends. I’ve been looking forward to this car for a year but the opportunity to make $50k on a car doesn’t come too often. I’m torn.
