[QUOTE="That '09 911 better be a GT2, GT3 or TT to hold a candle to a Viper in the performance arena. . . . if you're talking comfort, versatility and quality of materials, that's a different story and the Viper falls short in those arenas.[/QUOTE]

I was actually surprised how comfortable my Viper is, (even though it's an ACR), maybe the interior is a little palsticky but you know that already with this car so that's no surprise, (and that's not important to the Viper), but where it counts it's top notch, the steering, brakes, clutch feel, shift throw, all wonderful, even the seats are great, very comfortable, supportive, (great lumbar) and good leather. Behind the seat it's already pre-drilled for a harness. Defiantly worth a test drive.

    Found this:

    And then there's this:

Some of the many production car track records the Gen IV ACR broke:

This video played a role in my recent acquisition. It’s just astonishing what they were able to do with this platform. Manual gearbox and normally aspirated, it’s mind bending...

Indeed, I bought my 2005 Ford GT from Bernie. It was the final car he sold. Not long later, I bought my Viper from his widow, Graciela. Heartbreaking for everyone, especially her. The car community as a whole lost a big contributor.

    Finally drove one. 97 RT10.

Torque everywhere. Wow. Deceptively fast. Flat through corners. Sounds like a tractor and fit and finish not great

Kind of regret not getting that GTS but i also have no money and no room. Wouldnt put it ahead of my other cars. But will pick one up some day

Glad you liked it … after driving same year GTS, I just wasn't as excited as I used to be - partly because of your observations ...

97 RT 10 is super rare.

I agree about the tractor sound. I had a 98 with borla exhaust and I described the sound as between a tractor and a jet. Fun car, fit and finish is what it is, the car does not pretend to be anything other than an American roadster. I'm no the hunt for another one.

I can't love the looks of the RT 10 like I do the GTS.

I can totally see Jet sound with the right exhaust

Great car I would love to drive 2x per week. Not there yet though

I've got a tentative deal to sell a C6 Z06 I've had (to flip) for about a year. I briefly owned a 98 RT/10 and now that there is possible room in the garage, I'm going to be back on the hunt for a viper. My heart goes with the (no offense cuz I owned one) cartoonish styling of the Gen 2 and lumpy cam up to 99, but I really like the thought of a full convertible and Gen 3 in silver is a sweet looking car.

I'm guessing the Gen 3 is perhaps a little more civilized (relative I know) to a Gen 2 for longer distance trips and everyday usage?

I enjoyed my 99 GTS more than my gen III convertible overall, but the gen III is better for road trips.

    Hey all

I found a 99 GTS black with silver stripe over black. Car is not local to me . No accidents. But it has 90k miles I am not usually scared of high miles but cannot find much info on how concerned I should be. Inspection opportunity might be limited.

Price is 29k usd should I run?

The cars are pretty reliable, however, for those miles I would insist on an inspection. If that is not possible, I would suggest planning for $5k worth of repairs to cover any issues. Price seems reasonable for the miles.

for $5k more you can probably find one with half those miles. Gen 2 prices seemed to have risen (summer) but Gen 2 Rt/10's with medium miles (20-30k) are popping back up in low $30k's.

Maybe down there but not in Canada. People are asking 50 USD for similar cars plus much harder to find

Non specific claim on carfax probably needed at least new tires and since I couldn't lay eyes on it sold to someone else

The hunt is the best part anyway

Is it harder, easier or the same getting US cars into Canada as it is getting cars out?

    Right now? Lol

Depends on the car. There are a few hoops to jump through. I haven't looked into it in a few years but I think it might be slightly more difficult to get cars into Canada than vice versa.

But it is easy to take a US car back to USA from Canada
