Thank you, do you know if exists any (later production) 812SF made for the USA that are not included in the recall? If so, how many were made that are not affected?

TTBOMK all, absolutely ALL 812 SF (Coupés) are included in the recall. No matter which market.

This makes a lot more sense. I figured my car would be included in the recall. VIN range on that document just didn't make sense

Look at the bright side: this news should dramatically cut down on people tailgating you while driving your 812 SF

Being the masters of marketing that they are, I am surprised that Ferrari is not describing the flying window as a "unique convertible mechanism". May be they are worried about eating into GTS sales :)

That's a fact on both above. Right pedal and the tailgate. Because they always do!

Maybe, this is a new feature, in lieu of convertible, you get a open back motoring experience. ;-)

on a side note, a few years ago, I had a break (non Ferrari) and the thieves smashed the back window and took my laptop. It was a very odd experience driving with a rear glass window missing back home. You get some good exhaust engine sounds, you hear the road, the wind comes from the back and other motorist can see right into your car, but not sure I want to experience that again.

At least we know how few 812S are in the US. There may be hope their relative rarity for a non limited model may eventually help prop up used values for what is a truly phenomenal car.

I've been told the next new 812 will be a 22 model but they had nothing else to add

How does it work. Will Ferrari contact clients directly to arrange the recall work?

Here's the letter we will get in 2022.

    "Dear Customer

We are sorry to inform you that we are forced to recall your GTS. In recent times, a number of cars have been experiencing a tiny error, which might result in a bit of a draft, and a six car pile up.

We will advise you to not drive your car, and arrange for closed trailer transport.

The issue stems from the fact, that we have found examples of the entire roof to come off at highway speed."

Seeing that it occurred here in Europe and in Germany, there's a good chance of it happening at over 130 mph.

Every 812 SF owner will get a registered letter notifying you officially. Your dealer will then be responsible to do the necessary work and replace the rear window.
The client does not have to pay anything. The replacement work will probably take approx 3 hours. If you are a good client and your dealer is a good one too he might offer you a replacement car for a day or two until the work is done. Or they may pick up your car at your location and transport it back to you. Depending on your dealer.

I will simply wait until my first annual service and let them take care of it then. I did that with the air bag recall on my 488.

Just saw this on my.ferrari- it refers to the rear glass but I'm not sure if it means it was serviced last month when it was in for its annual: Image Unavailable, Please Login
