This car will be produced for a few years, no way in hell they put that much development into it and only do one model year.

I’m starting to think about my next car, but I struggle with why I would pick this over a much less expensive Corvette C8

C8 is a mass produced car. GT500 is 'limited' production.

I think they are different cars. C8 is more of a GT car to me...GT500 is a muscle kinda car.

Now Z06 will be different story...

OK, but Chevrolet will be very disappointed if the market considers a C8 as a GT car.

I get the appeal of the GT500, but not the price relative to other options....the one I specked up had a $90k sticker.....and I approve the use of quotes when an American manufacturer uses the term limited....which almost always equates to “we are only building one for each buyer”

Well considering Chevrolet will build about 20,181 C8's for the 2020 model year and Ford will build about 10% of that of the GT500 for MY20--that's a big difference. Also, GT500 has 760HP...just a little more than stock C8. It's whatever floats your boat.

Good call on your part. These mass produced “LE’s” will drop in price like everything else.

    To me it goes like this: C8 Z06 >> GT500 >> C8

The GT500 being a ground pounding, boulevard cruiser old school muscle car, and the C8 being a sporty sports car that punches way above its weight class. The Z06 with its reported flat-plane-crank V8 will be on a completely different level: near segment leading performance at a bargain price.

GT500 appears to be a very good car but went the direction of the C8 in that no manual is available which upset the "purists" who demand a manual. If Ford produces the GT500 for more than 2 years, they will be sitting in the dealer lots in years 3+ looking for buyers. CTFP cars may be different but Chevy says that they aren't going to over-produce the new Z06 either. Wait and see.

2-3 years out. Who cares--we could be dead.

Funniest thing I've heard in a long time "Chevy says that they aren't going to over-produce the new Z06"...um ok.

But I think Z06 will be great car--but at least a year + out.

The local Hendrick dealership says they have at least one year's allocation of C8 Z06's already on a waiting list of names. 50% - 60% will drop off so maybe a late first year car may be available to me.

I have an opportunity to acquire a Golden Ticket for MSRP. Should I? I am somewhat torn. Initially, I was hyped on this car, but I have since acquired three COIVD cars (Ford GT, Dodge Viper ACR, 765LT scheduled for Jan/Feb delivery) that I am struggling for seat time. Not sure how it fits in. Another car to service annually, to insure, to wash, to drive...

Ford just announced that dealers have till mid November next month to sign up for the 2021 AND 2022 model year programs. Ford dealers have to pay a yearly fee to get and sell the shelbys.

With the cars you have recently picked up, and have on order, I would wait and see if you would truly have the time to enjoy it, yet alone insure, tax, maintenance, etc.

A golden ticket car at MSRP right now is a great deal, however, in another year or so it should be the norm.

I passed on my GT500 but it isn't a Golden Ticket, I probably would have picked that one up. Dealer initially told me msrp then wanted $2500 over when the car finally came in and that's all I needed to turn it down.

What would it give you that the other cars in your ever growing lineup don’t ?

My guess is nothing......what you need is an open top supercar, you live in a nice climate, and nothing beats an open top car with a roaring V-12 behind you pushing you towards the horizon.....this message brought to you by the Lamborghini Diablo Roadster.

Pass on the Shelby. If you could buy it today, I would say yes and then you could flip it. Next year, ADM's may be more difficult to come by.
