I’m new to Ferrari’s and am looking to buy a 2018 or 2019 year model 488 spider. I would really appreciate some advice on what options that I must have on it to help with resale in the event I decide to trade or sell it later. Plus I would like to know which options to not miss just for my driving pleasure.

In as far as I'm not a CF fan (respect to those that are), I focused on functional and cosmetic options that suited my taste.

    Adaptive Front Light System
    Embroidered Prancing Horse on Headrest
    Front & Rear Parking Sensors
    Front Suspension Lifter
    Goldrake Carbon Fiber Racing Seats
Inner and Outer Electrochromatic Mirrors + Homelink
    Leather Rear Wall
    Leather Headliner
    Leather Steering Wheel with LEDs
    Painted Forged Wheels
    Premium Hi Fi Sound System
    Rear Parking Camera
    Scuderia Ferrari Shields on fenders
    Sport Exhaust Pipes
    Sport Seat Lifter

I keep seeing people mention the back wall leather. What's the deal with this? Why is it so important to y'all?

A lot of the suggestions given seem to be personal preferences. If you are focusing on literally must have options, where must have = you will take significant hits on resale if you do not have them, the list is much smaller.

Generally, on a 488, the must have / universally desired options are:
    • Carbon steering wheel with LED (paddle shifters and gauges not must have, just the wheel)
    • Scuderia shields
    • Forged wheels
For options that I would consider very popular, but not necessarily must have:
    • Front lifter
    • Rear parking camera
    • Parking sensors
    • Racing bucket seats
Cosmetic options such as alcantara, leather, and carbon fiber are proven time and time again to not be must have options. They return very little on resale because they are so expensive for what you get and buyers just don't value them as much as their MSRP is. With that said, if you love carbon fiber and that's your must have requirement, then go for a car with loaded carbon fiber. The good thing buying used is that you'll already be buying those options for a discount so your depreciation hit on your resale won't be as high.

Best of luck with the search.

Thanks for the advice guys. I did get one bought and it is heavily equipped, I believe it has everything that was suggested plus some items I really didn’t need but there is no such thing as an used car factory so I took the additional equipment and I’ll be happy. The car had an original list of $375,000 so for most of you that probably gives you an idea on how it’s specked out. Thanks again for the input and I’m looking forward to my first Ferrari and becoming part of the Ferrari community

It’s actually easy , tap on Upload a File then go to photo file , tap on the pic and hit the done button. All the best , Kirk.

    Seats that fit you.

I almost bought a 458 with racing seats that cut the circulation to my legs off in about five minutes.
Try to resist buying it for the next guy and get what you like.

What was important to me was:
The right exterior color, interior color, wheel design and caliper colors.
Medium (10K -12k miles) so I'm not paying extra for a car that I am afraid to put miles on.
    Condition
    Warranty
    Ferrari shields
Full electric seats (full includes heated seats)
Carbon Fiber steering wheel with LED's.
Suspension lift and the advanced dynamic headlights (can't get lift with out the headlights which I wanted any how for driving mountain roads at night).

I haven't ended up needing the lift yet. The car has surprisingly good ground clearance for a sports car so you may be able to pass on the lift depending on where you live.

I agree with most of the comments having recently acquired a good spec 488 GTS
Carbon exterior - as much as possible - sill cover, air splitter and front spoiler look good
Carbon interior - as much as possible
    Suspension lifter
    Parking sensors front and rear
    and
Apple Car Play if possible....this lets you use Waze as your satnav with alerts for speed cameras and police, a real license saver

Things that I have but don't really need that much
    Front and rear cameras...surprisingly
    Carbon seats
