Pink Mercedes is the second fastest car.
It just doesn't have Max behind the wheel.

Giving constantly failing drivers and engine manufacturers positive praise (or saying nothing) is entirely pointless. Gasly nor Albon showed signs of improvement. Neither did Renault. Red Bull would look like tits singing praise to them.

We can agree to disagree, but I do agree with you that the driver still makes a big difference today.

Sure. He is very close in speed to LH and has wins and podiums and has good harmony as a member of the team. He is beyond Albon to say the least!

Put Bottas in the second RB16 and you will quickly see a depressed driver !:p

Possibly but he will be closer than Albon and won’t make silly radio calls about hard racing lol :). He gets the points Mercedes expect. Albon does not!

Albon doesn't possess the mental toughness needed to succeed in F1.

To be fair to Albon, the #2 position in that team is a meat grinder.

Red Bull = 2 teams = 4 drivers, but only one matters !!!

RP is showing us just how the team can negatively impact an otherwise good car. Merc always seems to get the tires and the strategy right. RP seems to be guessing more. Merc's upgrades do seem to be actual upgrades. RP's may or may not be actual upgrades.

    Fast car. Slow team.

Same for Bottas but he is much more capable and stronger than Albon. Get it right or move on. Albon has had plenty of time and is consistent in his variation of issue to issue.

I see this as not at all about Max. It is Albon simply not fast or consistent enough to put the car in a position it is capable of.

Vettel and Albon are the same this year. Too far back, errors and excuses.

I see it a bit different than you. The 2019 Red Bull (and it's current evolution, the 2020 car) are both aerodynamically unstable. It's easy to see it's a difficult car to drive. Gasly and Albon are both no slouches. Look at Gasly in the STR...

Aerodynamic instability is not an easy fix without massive loss of performance. Max can handle the car, it's better to have 1 driver be on the podium every race than both struggling to break into the top 6...

But you have 1 car on podium and 4 cars way down field.

It appears to me that most of the non-Mercedes cars are over sprung or over shocked. Look at how they bounce over bumps, and curbs, then quiver as the car settles down while the Merc's take all those things with aplomb !
