After listening to the videos a few times, I think the Larini and Capristo 3 sound very similar, at least on video. Subtle differences. I think they both sound nice. Both look to be well made.
I used to do that crap when I was a kid. Not that fast though. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the F1 sound. I prefer the low rumble of my 308 and the way it bubbles off throttle. Anyone make a muffler than makes a 355 sound like a real V8? Plus, the F1 sound bother my tinnitus.
I like the F1 sound, but like you, I prefer the low rumble more. Maybe it’s all my years with muscle cars or Panteras. Plus I am not shifting at 8500 that often either.
That Larini sounds quite similar to the German-made Dimex system I took off to fit the Capristo 2. More growly and less of a distinction (switch) transitioning between valve closed to open. Agree with those who say the Capristo 2 sounds too quiet valve closed. It could be 20% louder and still not offensive. My unsympathetic neighbours prefer the Capristo though. Philistines...
I think the Y-pipe will make a good difference. The Kreissieg designs turn and redirect each bank before they meet and and merge over a longer distance -- and should allow the airflows to speed each other up and flow more efficiently. This could explain why the Kreissieg system seems to scream at top end, even though it is just a straight-through pipe at that point -- and why the 2.7 howls better than the 5.2 (there the Y-pipe seems really inefficient). I got distracted with some other projects but finally finished ceramic coating, painting and baking the Spiral Y-pipe. Got a Nouvalari muffler last week and parts are ready to go in
Larini was actually willing to make the Kriessieg Spiral pipe for more, but I figured its a bit too difficult to get accurate. I’ve been looking for a bunch of Kriessieg Y-pipe pics to send them and noticed the pipes comes up a tad bit and shoot down compared to something like Fabspeed’s. Update: Larini experiencing major delays. I’m not too pleased with them at the moment. Here’s their custom Y-pipe awaiting Inconel shielding. Close to Kriessieg’s ?? naah. The Japanese are artisan craftsmen. I shouldve lowered my expectations . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Dang it's taking a good while. That Y-pipe doesn't look bad though, and it'll be wrapped in shielding anyway. Hope this all still works out
Yeah. Tell me about it. It's the shape/style. Kriessieg is more curvy... close to a T-pipe instead of a Y. Larini's is pretty standard.
I think it looks nice Ken. Looks to be well made. Let us hope this whole lock down comes to an end sooner than later.
Looks like my muffler is done and new pics uploaded to their website. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Holy Shat! Adjusted for inflation that like $18k. Labor alone is considerably more than I paid for the headers last December. 8 gaskets were $54.
