It’s a LB competitor. Twin turbo V6 hybrid. I expect the 765LT replacement will face off against the SF90 and Aventador replacement.
All depends on power output at the end of the day. Depends on what Ferrari and McLaren choose to place these cars. McLaren has the choice to make the 570s replacement on par with the LB but that’d mean 700hp+ which wouldn’t make sense as they still make the 720S. However, if they make the 570S replacement compete with the MC20, R8, NSX and TTS then they’d more likely make the 765LT replacement rival the LB and Huracan EVO replacement. But that’d mean they’ll miss out on the SF90/Aventador segment. Again all about HP and price point.
don't be so sure what it will be replaced by. remember few years back reports were circulating mclaren is preparing a supercar sit between 650s and p1. that's the 720s , which to me is not a proper rival to 488/f8 . but suddenly instead of a new model they declared 720 as the slow-selling 650s' replacement.. https://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/next-mclaren-supercar-coming-in-2016-will-slot-between-p1-and-650s-ar163627.html
I don’t think McLaren is making very many 720’s and this point and will probably stop production altogether before this car starts and run out the current super series platform with the 765LT spider. My prediction is that the car will be around 700hp but weigh less than the LB (750hp?) resulting in similar overall performance. It will also be priced lower than LB however the market will generally see them as competitive products performance-wise. My sense is that McLaren will bring both the 570 and 720 replacements ‘upmarket’ to compete in performance against the LB and SF90 respectively. They won’t (shouldn’t) be chasing volumes anymore but rather increase average price per unit sold. Let’s see what happens.
Basically it shaping up like this: Ferrari LB is TT V6 hybrid replacement of the traditional mid engine V8 models, with the F8 being the last model. The new Mclaren TT V6 Hybrid is the replacement of the V8 Super Series, with the 765LT Spider being the last of that series, and a discontinuation of the Sports Series. And the new mid engined TT V6 Hybrid Aston Martin Vanquish being their entry into the mid engined supercar space, with the limited Valhalla previewing the TT V6 (hot V set up) hybrid drivetrain. With the rumored Corvette hybrid replacing the Gran Sport as an honorable mention, due to being mid engined and possibly offering the same or similar performance for less.
Today the patent drawings for McLaren new hybrid were scooped. Is it only me or is McLaren just making cars with a stamp? There is nothing new about this car: it looks like a 570 with elements of a 720 - see rear view mirrors. What I appreciate about Ferrari is the fact that each car, whether you like it or not, is a new design. They should be more like Porsche where each generation is a new bold unique design.......oh wait.....
That is way to 570, I do like the classic lines of the wheels though, simple and classic in my view is best for wheel design Sent from my SM-F916B using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Looks very good, but very similar to the current model too. Will it be for sale before the Ferrari? There are tests cars around there that look almost fisnished already.

Sport series replacement. Curious to see the super series replacement/SF90 competitor. It will be as powerful but lighter
That McLaren looks iboring to me. Just like all their other cars. No thanks Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
And still probably 2wd because they don’t have the resources to develop front drive, so still slower. And judging by this new hybrid, will look exactly like the old car as no cash for designers. So it’ll just be a P1 10 years later.
Seriously- does this mean Porsche has no cash for designers? Neither does lambo. And Ferrari for sure cause the sf90 looks an awful lot like a 488//F8/458
No but fact Mclaren has no cash is just that unfortunately. A fact. And if you ask me it can’t be a bad thing their designers are out of a job
