Thanks guys. I've been looking over it tonight. I cant open the glovebox .. is there a trick to it? I want to check the fluid levels .. does anyone have a pic to show where they all are?

Congrats on the car. Looks beautiful!!

There is a switch on the centre console (looks like a file folder) to open the glove box.

Sadly, the tool kit looks aftermarket as the screwdrivers, wrenches and pliers (at least for my 1990) should all say "Ferrari".

Non-the-less, easy enough to replace through e-bay.

What model is the other Ferrari, can't quite make it out.

The leather on the glove box door can stick to the leather on the panel above it so pushing the door more closed (and then releasing) can help unstick it and/or using something like a plastic credit card to help "pull" the door open when the release mechanism actuates. However, if you don't hear the release actuator motor run when you push the open toggle switch = problem. If the actuator motor doesn't run, have you tried the emergency release cable under the dash?

Push the button then take your fist and punch the top of the glove box it will come open and read it on a previous thread. It works.

Love the 599. A friend has one is Rosso Corsa with the nero interior, Daytona seats and red stitching. Incredible car.

Now you span two generations of Ferrari. Would be interested on your opinions of "old" vs "new".

well I did 70 miles in it over the weekend and I'm in love! The steering is so precise. Great noise from the engine. Plus my kids love it. The noise from the engine at peak revs is amazing. It does roll a bit on fast corners and understeers a bit too but is easily corrected with some throttle. Easy to heel and toe. The gear change is OK but you need to be very firm with it. The really like the simplicity of the steering wheel and it feels good. Its a completely different drive to my 599 as you would expect but I didn't want the same.

How much do you think is a fair price for an original tool roll?

Not sure what your level of mechanical involvement is or will be with these cars. Overcoming the "fear factor" is the greatest limitation.

However, I did the clutch job myself. Now I have the confidence to do many other tasks myself. Yes, very major items I will take to a qualified shop.

But my reason for suggesting the service manual is how quickly you realize basic items are easy to do, and you do gain a more indepth appreciation and understanding of the car's design and engineering.

Look also at the TR Cross Reference list for additional suggestions to save money on parts and repairs.

Thanks Gary. Appreciate it but my skill level is limited and over the years I've realised I should leave to those who know. For me its tge driving, admiring and cleaning!!
