This is a newly acquired 550 Barchetta that requires a little TLC. The car has had the same owner since 2005 and comes complete with all the gear and history.

Being in Australia, it’s quite difficult finding someone locally that could perform some of the jobs required, like restoring the interior plastics.

Surprisingly I heard about BM Leather Creations based in Melbourne. Bill performed a tremendous job, so thought I’d share this first step, along with many others yet to come.

In my humble opinion, the Barchetta is one of the most beautiful Pininfarina designs.

    Now for more work!

It’s time to install the original mufflers and to remove the Tubi ones that are currently fitted.

First of all, we have to clean the original mufflers (they have been off the car since new!).

It’s also time to detail the suspension and brakes.

Very fun to see post like these. Do you have any idea why the firewall between the cockpit and fuel tank have these big «triangles»? You’ve got my dream car...

I see the interior is disassembled. My barchetta is in overall great condition. The leather is still like new, but all the alcantara has faded. Is his the reason why you took apart the interior?

I remember someone telling me it is not Alcantara, but another material. The material Ferrari used on the Barchetta is called Lorica?

It is called Lorica. It's definitely not Alcantra.

The Lorica did not hold up well in my Barchetta. I spoke with a local upholstery shop and they said that the exact material is still available.

It is NOT LORICA, it is Alcantara. Kenneth Michaels Coachtrim has the original Ferrari Book and the original materials for the 550.
