I thought I’d ask this here. What do you think is the safest seat in first class? I’m thinking the last row window. Nobody behind me. (I got the flu once in a window seat with a woman behind me hacking the whole time.) Plus, the furthest away from the aisle.

    Thoughts?

First class has about double the air flow of the back, so that should help. I always liked those bulkhead window seats. Go to sleep and nobody bothers you.

I flew on the airlines a few weeks ago, and I intentionally DID NOT go first class. It depends on the policy of the airline, but on Alaska they were keeping the middle seat free, while in first class they were filling every seat. I was able to find a coach row with a row of empty seats in every direction, which is by far the safest option.

You really don't need to worry on an airliner about people a few rows away from you. The air is all recirculated through filters and the air flow is very good. But if the person next to you coughs on you, that is not so good.

I believe Southwest is still guaranteeing the middle seats are empty.

Consider a face shield, eye pro, and a N95 mask. Nitrile gloves ?

I’m not sure what part would be safest anymore. Just came back from Boise to Austin on a United flight w/ a layover in Denver. Both flights were packed, and I was getting multiple texts saying the planes were mostly full and encouraging me to change flights. Denver airport today appeared to be business as usual with all the people as was Austin’s. Compared to two weeks before that, the Southwest Airlines flight to Cancun was only halfway full, and they were still keeping the middle seat clear. Hobby airport in Houston was practically empty.

I just had my flight physical this morning, and the aviation medical examiner (doctor) said he took advantage of the cheap fares this summer to go some places he and his wife had always wanted to go!

I don’t think you could suffocate with the spout open. For extra precautions you could fit an n95 to the pour opening.
