Hi, How long should the Testarossa battery last for before the car needs to be driven to recharge the battery. I’ve drive the car every weekend since getting it and plan on keeping that up as long as the weather allows for it, however I’m curious to know how long the car can be left without a trickle charger? I know all batteries will be different but on average, what can one expect?
Mostly depending on of course the state of battery, age, etc but since on the testarossa there isn't much of an electric draw I would say 4 6 weeks would be the max I would chance it In the past a number of owners experience a drain from the radio ..so be aware Remember the biggest factor is the battery state and age and temperature of storage Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
when the battery is ok and the main switch off 6 month is no problem. even more. have been 7 month in thailand and when I started after so long time the starter just turned easily and the engine after about 8 seconds rotating with the starter fired up.
Joe has a great point ..you can shut the switch in bonnet and the battery can be kept in a state of charge longer Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
Underneath your bonnet on passenger side of car there is a knob that switches off power completely from battery to car .. item 41 in pic Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk Image Unavailable, Please Login
For a 30 year old car, every car would be different at this point, depending on a number of factors. Step 1 is using a good trickle charger, so you don't have to worry about it.
Mark, Wrong question. Starting off with anything less than a full charge will needlessly tax your charging system and reduce your battery life. Try this: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/battery-charger-hookup.617880/#post-147071794
Just remember, it will cut the power to your radio, clock, etc so all will have to be reset once you drive it. Put a battery tender on it. Don't use the switch.
