I'm glad you are human after all.
I have fully understood your policy of moderation for some time but some topics are too passionate.
A return to real competition would solve much of the problem.

Schumacher had more style and was rather more composed than LH under pressure.

It has nothing to do with tradition. The decision was made to add the restricted P&R rule fairly quickly after the forum started because of both business and behavior management reasons. Those reasons haven't changed.

If LH took off all his clothes while on the podium as a protest, we still wouldn't allow pics of that scene on this forum, because it would still violate forum nudity restrictions. If LH wore a shirt that had profanity on it, the pics of that shirt or quoting the shirt would get deleted, because it would still violate forum profanity restrictions. Those behaviors taking place on a track does not supercede the reasons for those rules.

This forum also has a sports section where American football is discussed and this same politicized scenario has been going on for several years during game opening ceremonies. For all these years, posters on those threads have readily restricted themselves to just the game discussion. Those who did want to discuss the politicization of sports moved to the P&R section. I'm sure F1 fans can do just as well as American football fans.

    Haha.

I always wanted to get him banned for trolling Tifosi, not for agreeing with us.

    It is bizarro day.

I’d agree with u: Schumacher messed up In 94 and 97 but Hamilton in his rookie season messed up too with his pit entry error.

    :)

Me needs to fix I math!

Thanks guys. Also, do keep in mind, you may be surprised mods may actually agree with the core sentiments.... doesn't affect the fact we are trying to keep food recipes in the food recipes section.

Again, appreciate you all, but please - no P&R in F1 (even if F1 personalities can't control themselves, we expect our members to be better then them)

    Cheers

Or, just for instance, in the F1 forum on a thread about LH, dozens of posts from moderators extolling the reasons not to clutter up these threads with off-topic discussions.

    ;-)

    You're welcome. Hehe.

    love you guys!

Well, since this thread is still here...

I'll just say I approve of its title.

BTW- I heard him say something about the safety car restart and subsequent shunts, "That's what happens when xxxx xxxx"

But I didn't quite catch his words. What did he say?

    I think it was:

"That's what happens when you turn off the safety car lights so late."

    All the best,

    I don't see congruence.

You state moderatos have responded to P&R violations with 'DOZENS' of posts, yes? Did these responses involve pushing our own P&R positions or say somebody is posting too much 'clutter?'

My analogies would only be a logical fallacy/hypocritical if moderators responded to P&R discussions in F1 with our own P&R points of view. Get back to me if I said folks are posting too much about brake liners.

The reprimands were not due to any violation of the number of posts. It's always all about P&R content. (and after a warning, some members - multiple.)

Many could argue this whole thread is clutter; I would agree. However, we didn't ban anyone from posting 'too much or speaking too much...about KERS, hard compounds, Toto, the latest Concorde agreement, or the color of Ricardo's shoes.

Like Hamilton, folks here are drawn, no compelled, to talk about politics, knowing full well many in F1 (in our case FCHAT) don't like to have any politics in it.

Kettles I would like to introduce you to some pots.

Something tells me people still don't' get it - well here we go:
    ***
    Using my library analogy again:

Patrons upset at a rowdy, loud group, notifying the staff. The staff kindly asked them QUIETLY to tone it down, and after DOZENS of QUIET requests, the group is finally escorted out due to non-compliance.

You seem to equate the staff as equally culpable in disruption in the scenario above. I would agree there is a plausible point if the staff above was just as loud (i.e. we expressed our own personal P&R) as the disruptive group while asking them to be quiet.

    ***
I will sincerely say I am baffled, to say the least, at your conclusion.

Put another way, it's like claiming FIA enforcement by taking points away from a team for cheating is cheating in of itself by the FIA.

Hamilton rookie season against Alonso was nothing less than impressive, remarkable.
I Remember i was sincerely surprised by him.
We have to remember either Alonso is a race monster to put this into perspective.

The drivers and teams had raised it with the race director before the race, that the safety car lights were being turned off later and later in the lap and this was likely to result in the leader taking the pack right up to the line very slowly. Liberty like it because it's better for 'the show' (because it's more likely to mix things up at the restart), but it can be very dangerous (as we saw). The on-board with GIO reminded me of the accident that took Billy Monger's legs. Had Bottas gone from where the SC lights went out, he would have been a sitting duck for the cars behind in his slipstream.

I say this with kindness... The disdain you have developed for the members of this community is increasingly bubbling to the surface. Why would you think it is a good idea to gleefully strut around in this thread, "lauging at" the members, pontificating, and in general preening yourself in the wake of a series of bans? What could you possibly hope to accomplish that would benefit the community? Do you ever see Yin, Andrew, or any of the other mods behave like this? I most certainly do not, and even when I have had occasion to disagree with their decisions they always explain themselves clearly, firmly, respectfully, and with class (even in situations where I really have no standing). It is clear that they genuinely dislike banning people and carefully consider each action they take. It is also clear that you have come to find some sort of joy in it. Perhaps you would benefit from a break from the role of moderator, which would give you an opportunity to just enjoy the site for a while and get back to being a member of the community. Just something to consider.

Certain F! stars have / had style - Senna, Schumacher, Lauda, Andretti [mario], Reggazzoni, Villeneuve, Moss, Clark, Scheckter. Its not about what Sunglasses you wear but these guys had a aura about them that separated them from possibly more successful drivers of their period. Senna did loads of charity work but never gave him cause to wear a T-shirt on the podium to shout about it. Unfortunately LH doesnt have that despite being a dammed good race driver.

Respect is earnt not given, its not about how you conduct yourself on the race track, thats gloves off territory and every man for himself.

Madonna v Audrey Hepburn .......sums it up really

I've always had the impression of Hamilton that he is trying to be someone else. It's almost as if he is cherry picking some of the attributes that have made other public figures and world leaders notable without having the greater character to sum it up. Don't get me wrong I think, besides being an incredible racing driver, Lewis has a lot of great personal qualities that go beyond his driving. Its just that his social and religious positions feel forced and not natural.
