I'll add that I didn't try an 812 prior to buying the F12, mostly because of the price delta at 320k+ rather than $200k. And now that I have the F12 I can't really wrap my head around the extra $120-150k for what end up being nominal performance gains. The AWS is the only option that piques my interest. Extra HP is lost in the wheelspin. And I don't think the 812 coupe is anywhere as beautiful as the F12.

I like the 812 GTS though and hummed and hawed about that and passed on an offered build spot back in July. $450k was a huge leap over $200k. If they come down in price used that might be next but if they're like 599SA it will end up as the one that got away.

With regards to thread topic I don’t know where to begin.
I adore my triple-yellow 458 Spider, and on another road trip with friends now in NC mountains...just crossed 40K miles.
Car is magic...and despite owning an 812, Speciale, 16M...the 458S is easily one of the most fun cars to grab the keys and blast off on a simple errand or a two week multi-thousand mile trip!

I’m getting an F8 Spider, but a little nervous it won’t be able to capture the heart strings to the same degree.

Concur...I suspect I will be interested. Might need an F12 to try until then.

My journey with the 458S started as a rib to my wife every time we spent a lot of money on something I would say "I'm never going to get my Ferrari" I meant it as a joke but she knew I was planting a seed even if I didn't realize it.
Finally she said why don't you just buy one, my first thought was that's a lot of money that I would be spending just for me to enjoy and not my family as a hole but she said if you can swing it with out effecting lifestyle why not.

I knew I could but the practical side of me said I don't need this to be happy and It's a lot of money for a weekend toy. But the more I thought about it the more I knew I was getting rid of all the mind blocks I had in my head.

I gave myself a budget and of course blew that by 30k to get into a perfectly spec'd Nero+Nero 458 Spider and a love affair was born

I know it is not the fastest, best handling (cowl shake) but like a lot of you know there is that special something about this stallion that
Ferrari and Pininfarina nailed, like no other modern car before it.

It has that IT factor when you cold start it (especially with Fabspeed headers and iPE exhaust) that is so satisfying every time you press the red button and the 9k rev limit is so sublime ever time I hit it I have a huge grin on my face

No regrets, only beautiful memories of 10 day road trips, car meets, rally's, Monterey car week, new friends, long drives with the top down and loving every second of it

Last weekend I was on Mullholland Hwy off Malibu Canyon Rd and I came around the corner about 50 miles over and their was a motorcycle officer booking someone!!

Just too many cops around there on the weekends.

Yeah they're on to everyone for Mulholland. Every time I've driven it, it was clogged anyway. I want to get over and drive that road that Matt Farah does his videos on.

Vegas has a few fun roads outside of town but same problem: there are only a few of them, and lots of guys (and motorcyclists) have the same idea so you end up being in a pack or risk being easy pickings for NHP. You have to get up an hour or more out of town, or ideally, about 2-3 hours out into Utah.

Back from a 2hr drive thru the 1 lane twisty mountain pass. Cooled down north of Malibu on PCH.
I was accompanied by a friends Huracan. So much louder than a 458, and of course sure footed and never broke a sweat.
The 458 was loose and playful and darting all over the turns. And that’s part of the magic. Slower w/o a doubt, and less controlled, but fun in its own way.

These are my favorite roads in LA and I love how fast and technical they are.

Never any cops and it feels like you are free to go do what you want.

If you want to go tomorrow morning (Sunday) just let me know.

I will be in my Pista and don’t worry about keeping up as it is not a race.

This is at Angeles Forest Highway.
