Hi All, This is my second issue with the gearbox in 15 years. My car is a 2005 F430 with just under 16,000 miles. I’ve tried researching old threads and honestly haven’t read an answer to my question. All I’d like to know if if I should even consider driving the car or bring it in immediately for service ??? Back in March of 2017, I had an issue and had it repaired at the dealership. A couple of days ago, I took it out for a short drive and then left it in my driveway for a few hours. Then we took it for an even shorter ride to my mother in laws house for dinner. The warning light came on and I drove it over there anyway. When I got there it was very stubborn about going into reverse, but it did and I parked it. After dinner, the light did not come on and all acted fine. Can anyone advise me on what to expect ? Could it have just been an odd occurrence, or should I expect it to return for sure ?? Here’s what was happening in March 2017. Image Unavailable, Please Login Thank You All Very Much, Dominic
if this is the 2nd time you encounter the same problem as 2017 and if from 2017 to now you only drive a few thousand miles. I'll hazard a guess that the 2017 fix didn't really fix it. you should ask them " when you were tightening the screw at the back , did you visually see any fluid leaking? is the screw really loose?"
Hello, I’ll ask them that question, but I’d bet there’s no way they’ll possibly remember. It’s been driven just under 2600 miles. I’ll have to make an appointment to bring it in for service. Thank You, Dominic
Honestly, no clue. The dealership’s service department has never given me a warning. I’ll make an appointment and bring it in. I don’t mess with it ♂️
People sometimes get problems if clutch getting worn, the annual service paperwork should give clutch and brake pad wear % ages. My clutch wear is about 22% at 12000 miles but i dont abuse mine
Hello Mike, I looked over all my receipt papers and I see absolutely nothing about clutch or brakes. I’ll certainly know to ask when I bring it in. I’m not sure if driving this thing fast from time to time, constitutes abuse ??? There’s no clutch pedal, so no popping the clutch here in the USA Thank You for your help, Dominic
Just an FYI. I found that if I don't allow my 2005 F430 to warm up for about 5 minutes before driving from cold, the transmission light comes on and the transmission does weird things.
You know, I have had similar feelings over the years. I’ll be more attentive to my quick get up and go in the old heap. Thank You !!!
Do you look old and grey, are you broke. All that before you are 35. Some people just dont get a good roll of the dice
