Should this not be in Bill Mitchell's alter-ego George Peppard's "Blue Max" persona?

    Of course!
For all the great things Mitchell accomplished, he didn’t hit a home run every time!
Some of his bikes were pretty cool, some not so much.

Just saw this today, the original drawing/rendering for the Weinermobile from Brooks Stevens.

Rear has similar look to an Aston Martin and I'm not convinced by the handling of the B pillar, but otherwise quite a tidy package.
Is FCA going after Ferrari's business here?
With this and the Wagoneer, FCA seems to have a lot of quarters in the bottom of the sofa...

I wish I could remember where I read it on FChat, but someone here said the MC20 was supposed to be the new Dino & the Roma was supposed to be a Maserati. Don't know how much truth there is to that, but it is interesting.
I'll ask around. I'm sure my FCA pals will have some info. The Design guys here in Auburn Hills are tied into the Design guys in Modena.

I like it but it doesn't feel particularly Italian. It definitely comes across as being down market from a Ferrari. It is a rather simple shape, not much surface complexity.

Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Ferrari nailed it on the Monza.
The #FerrariMonzaSP1, one of the forerunners in the 'Icona' series, has been awarded the 2020 Compasso d’Oro by the ADI (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale). The model was inspired by the legendary #Ferrari 'barchettas' of the past, uniting innovation with classic Ferrari style. Only 11 cars and three Ferraris have received this prestigious award in its long history.
    Maranello 09 September 2020
The first in the Prancing Horse’s Icona series takes the prestigious design award

Sophisticated in both design and technology, the car is inspired by legendary Ferrari racing barchettas

The Monza SP1 is only the 11th car (and third Ferrari) to win in the history of the revered ADI award

The Ferrari Monza SP1 has won the prestigious Compasso d’Oro (Golden Compass), one of the most sought-after awards in the industrial design world. The Prancing Horse was represented at today’s presentation ceremony in Milan by Flavio Manzoni (Chief Design Officer) and Jane Reeve (Chief Communication Officer).

The Monza SP1 was one of 18 design products to receive the Compasso d’Oro at today’s prize-giving ceremony. Launched in 1954 and awarded every second year, the ADI Compasso d’Oro is the oldest and most authoritative international industrial design prize with finalists selected by the ADI’s Permanent Design Observatory, which is comprised of experts, designers, critics, historians and specialist journalists. Just 11 cars have ever received the Compasso d’Oro in its long history, of which three are Ferraris: the F12berlinetta in 2014, la FXX K in 2016 and now the Monza SP1.

The ADI (Industrial Design Association) jury chose the Monza SP1 because of “its ability to project itself into the future and draw on the legacy of memory without ever feeling vintage”. Sporting the very best technologies available today, the car is a limited-edition special that is the first in an entirely new segment called ‘Icona’ inspired by the most evocative Ferraris of the 1950s.

Aimed at dedicated clients and collectors, the Monza SP1 references the Ferrari racing barchettas of the past, not least the 1948 166 MM, which originally inspired the name ‘barchetta’, and the iconic 750 Monza and 860 Monza. Designed with the sole aim of winning, these uncompromising models helped build the Ferrari legend in the 1950s by delivering numerous victories in the World Sports Car Championship. The Ferrari Monza SP1 was designed as an uncompromising single-seat road car that offers a truly unique experience behind the wheel.

That does not suprise me at all. I love the SP1. Best looking Ferrari in many years in my opinion. Also liked the original 458's before they crudely cut those vents into the side and renamed it the 488 (also my opinion).

The story used to be that the California was supposed to be a convertible Maserati and in fact there were prototypes running around at some point. But eventually the “concept” may have been diverted to Ferrari though not the same car as the Ferrari used aluminum chassis and 458 style suspension.

I expect that the MC20 was supposed to be the Alfa 8C mid-engine car (same basic engine as the Quadrifoglios) and similar chassis as the 4C. They cancelled that car and moved it upmarket to justify a higher price and add prestige to the dull Maserati line-up.

Ferrari are also going to introduce a V6 mud-engine though probably higher price point but ultimately less exotic in some people’s eyes than the MC20, which has carbon chassis and scissor type doors.

Not wishing to be shaded by the FCA Grand waggy concept, MBZ has turned loose a "designers designer" to spiff up a G-Wagen.....

Not sure the result was worth the time spent.......either the video or the truck......

No, you were right. It is a joke. The punchline will be the stupid amount someone pays for the "home scale replica" at auction.

To me this looks like some 'think tank' project to better Mercedes image in our current political environment.

Its redesign is on par with that rapper's show Pimp My Ride and the video commentary has background music notes from a popular heroin, Percocet pill song called 'Mask Off'.

As for the Maserati MC20, unlike the Birdcage, its too timid of a face. Reminds me of Jaguar's C-X75 concept.

It's always fun when they let the designer speak to the design of a car.

Interesting. The shape does look close to P 918. Same thought process I guess. I really don't like the wheels very much, but the shape is nice if not a little generic. Not that Italian, and now we know why :)
