Cleaned my engine with a spray cleaner then “ misted” off with water . Engine was cold. Have done this before. Let it dry . Started , drove , warmed up . Now it’s missing with codes P0300, P0306,P0303, P1383,P1383 Left bank engine management system 7.3.1 recovery fault 5. Scanner is a Launch x431. I know I got something wet in the engine wash process. Cleared the codes. They returned . Any ideas?
Po3o6 is specific to spark plug #6 in the firing order. Concentrate on drying that one and/or replacing the plug.
I recently did the same type of engine detail, running a hose over the top of the engine, and the suspension warning came on (triangles under wheels icon on dash), but after I got to where I was going (30 minute drive), it disappeared and all is running as normal.
Yes. P0300 is a generic code for ignition problems. When the last digit is identified, it's specific to that cylinder.
No go . I’ll be ordering a couple of ignition coils . Mine look pretty old . I’ll try Ricambi . Don’t have the nerve to try the cheapo $50 ones on eBay
Bought my Bosch coils on e-bay for about $50 a piece. I did all eight 2 years ago and so far no issues. Check the thread on this. There's a lot of guys using these. To add, if your coils you are replacing "look pretty old" then it's a safe bet that others will soon fail. Heat kills them after time. Good luck!
Thanks . Searched old threads. Found a UK supplier , PowerSpark . Bought 8 for about $50 each. Also Bought a couple of old ones here in the US to get me back on the road until the UK ones get here .
This happened to me last year too. If no codes before engine wash (as with mine) then leave in the hot sun with the lid open. It is due to moisture. I also helped the drying process by using a shop vac that has reverse flow (blows instead of suck) and tried to blow out water from the crevices.
Suggest no water spray on engine for cleaning. rather—. Soapy rag brush then blow dry w compressed air or leaf blower.
Micks Garage has them, too. https://www.micksgarage.com/d/ignition-coils/ferrari/ferrari-360/360-modena-spider-2000-to-2005/3-6-400-3586/products Their search function leaves a lot to be desired, though. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Hose down engine FLOW-CHART for the simple man: 1975 small block chevy - YES. Worst that can happen, water under dist cap. 2001 Ferrari - NO. Sensors, coils, unhappy leading to inconclusive, evasive, intermittent, faults.... unhappy wife.... unhappy Ferrari dude.
Very true. I try to keep up with it so as not to have to do a major clean to get things looking good again. Usually use 409, Fantastic, etc. and saturate the rag and take time to get into the crevices. Never seems to cause any problems.
my guess is the intake seals were already bad, and now with the oil and gunk holding them sealed, you now have a vacuum leak, just a wild guess.
