Aside from the shunts and the red flag, did the engine management changes have a subtle effect on the outcome today?

Post-race, Norris complained about Stroll getting a free pit-stop by being able to change tires during the red flag period. I have to say that I agree with him!

So Mercedes runs hot in traffic. Good to know.

First GP win by a French driver in 24 years? By the country that invented Grand Prix racing? They need to do better than that.

No. More likely it was the cooling issues the MB has in traffic on a hot day.

Bottas complained about not being able to change engine maps as a joke.

Hamilton didn’t have the “party mode” for that extra 1% for a couple of laps.

I think there is definitely something missing from the Mercedes race pace in traffic

Really happy too for some British armchair specialists who did a disgusting Gasly bashing last year because he was French.

I'm very happy for Gasly, Todst, and Alpha Tauri. In regards to going after someone personally, raise your game my man, be classy not trashy!

Well, this was a perfect 2020 race --- all screwed up. :D

Did Vettel really lose his brakes, or did he just give up after being unable to advance from P17?

Whatinhell was Ferrari thinking, running Leclerc on Soft/Hard with no Mediums? Those hards were too cold after the SC. I'm still wondering if Ferrari agreed to throw this whole season. Even the Alfas were passing them.

Considering how screwed the McLarens were by the SC and red flag, that was a hell of a comeback by Sainz.
Between his initial start and his comeback, I'd rate Carlos as "driver of the day" over Pierre.
(I love the radio exchange between Sainz and the pits: "Keep it clinical" "I want this win!" :p)
(He can guess there won't be a lot of chances in next year's Ferrari.)

Think RB wants to trade Albon for Ghastly back? :p

Kimi made that dog of an Alfa pretty durn wide. Pity he couldn't keep a points position.

I could almost sympathize with Lewis -- on turns, you typically watch the apex, not the outside.
But they should have known that's where the lights were, on this track. (Not even including pit wall indicators.)
Preventable error. ... Given that nobody but Gio made the same mistake.

    Fair enough.
(I skipped forward through part of the red flag period, after letting the DVR get behind while reviewing the start. So I might have missed it.)

Gasly is universally appreciated in the paddock. Some participants in forums (I was not targeting anyone in particular) take advantage of a weakness of a pilot at a given time to leave free to their lowest instincts. I have not forgotten this injustice, nothing more.

    I've always liked Gasly.

When he went to RedBull, he really under-performed against Max.....just like Albon is doing in 2020.

2020 for Gasly is his year at Alpha Tauri. Kvyat is somewhere else.

With the current line up, we may have to wait for another 24 years!

Gasly isn't the new Prost, by a long shot. No more than Ocon or Grosjean.
