You could also try to fill the tank with water and place it in the freezer. The frozen water will probably fix most of the dents. In order to protect the recess, two pieces of wood secured with a clamp. The tank may be damaged in the process...

    Thanks.
The thing is that my tank seems to have corrosion.

I am looking to fix it as well.

    Good day Ricardo,

I certainly understand the motivation to repair, but if corrosion is present in one area then it is probably in others too. Consequently this could lead to other repairs over time which will probably cost more than buying a replacement now... and you will have peace of mind knowing that you will not have to worry about this item for years to come. Secondly, a new unit will be aesthetically perfect with no weld seams, patches, etc that will be present with a repaired unit.

    Just a few thoughts.

    Cheers,

    Sam

It's late, no time to search, but didn't I see a thread somewhere that said the expansion tank was a Jaguar part, and reasonable priced ?
Sound familiar to anyone else ?

To my friends in the community:
Earlier today I received a message from a member advising me that the guarantee book from one of my cars was for sale on Ebay.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-12-Cylinders-1984-Ferrari-400-Warranty-card-Owners-Service-Book-OEM/353195801189?hash=item523c1c3a65:g:KMgAAOSwNGNfVnhw

I would like to ask the community what are your thoughts as far as if the seller has the legal ownership of the book or not?
I am happy to pay for it but I would like to pay a lesser cost of what he is asking.

    I would appreciate everyone's thoughts

    Thanks

The question is more whether YOU have the legal ownership of the book. Unless you bought the car from an auction house and the car came with the booklet, no way you can reclaim the book.

As far as price is concerned, you are the one likely to pay the most for it and seller knows it. The asking price is likely to deter most buyers, so you can wait for the end of the auction and make an offer to the seller.

At least you know the car was maintained at Francorchamp and you even have the dates, so you can get in touch with their accountant and ask for the maintenance records of the car...

    Thanks fort the comments.
In virtue of being efficient with my time, I already made the purchase.

The seller agreed to $170.00 and I just went for it.

    Thanks @raemin

I would be ECSTATIC if someone found my warranty book for 50679 for $250, let alone $170.

Seriously, I would be over the frickin moon. It's the only thing missing from my manual set.

For the expansion tank, my dim memory was that the tank for an XJ6 was a near perfect replacement for a lot less than the ferrari part . My records went with the car when I sold it so don't quote me!

    TOTALLY agree here, Howard.

In my experience, a “1 week” quote in the Ferrari world usually translates into about 8 calendar weeks and usually breaks out something like this:

    - 1 week for the shop to free up space on the lift to finish the car. This is true no matter how large or small the shop may be.
    - 1 week to get going on the repair and realize that YET ANOTHER obscure part is missing/broken/needs to be replaced.
    - 2 weeks to find said obscure part from the far and dark corners of the Ferrari part suppliers universe (get ready to pay $$$$). More often than not, this part is found in a different country to where you reside (that’s IF it’s even found!).
    - 1 week to ship said part to the shop (this is with paying for expedited shipping - remember said obscure part will usually come from another country).
    - 1 week to free up space on the lift to finish the car... AGAIN.
    - 2 weeks to actually complete the initial 1 week quote to finish the car.

    LOL! :D

Still, even with all of this hassle, I wouldn’t trade any of my Ferraris for anything. They’re amazing machines, well worth the expense and hassle, IMO.

Good luck @RicSinger! I hope you get your car back sooner than 8 weeks! :)

Add a few more weeks when the obscure parts proves to be incompatible with your specific version of the car!

    100% agree.
The job started 6 weeks ago and I was told "a couple of weeks" so now we are on the 7th week and with a little luck it will be one or two more week. you all will know whenI actually pick it up.

    Yesssss sir.
I ordered 4 exhaust doughnuts by part number from Eurospares, paid like $145.00 took about a week to arrive and then, they were too big, the people at Eurospares gave me a refund and told me to dispose of them.

Then a member told me to go to Napa auto parts down the road and provided part number so I did, paid $14.00 or the set of 4 and everything worked well
