ok - so I can't get my fog lights to turn on and off. I checked the fuse - it's good. I turned on the parking lights. I turned on the head lights. The button is so funky, I don't know if it is working properly or not. I press it and it really doesn't make an inspiring click at all. It doesn't really move very much. But the rear defroster is similar - although at least there is a light on the dash that shows when it is on. Maybe broken? Ugh. Can't pass state safety inspection if I can't make it work. I imagine the only time it's ever been used is during a safety inspection - so it shouldn't be broken. Bottom picture is max pressure and it doesn't seem to depress very far.

Yes, the button deflection is very small, and the tactile "feel" of those switches is crapola (they are actually a momentary-switch-activated, self-latching relay). If you do a search on the "121607" part number, you'll get some prior threads that have pictures of the internal construction.

I do have a spare that works, I just tested it in my 512. I would be willing to let it go. PM me if you narrow the problem down to the switch.

Be careful there is a tiny bent green washer inside that will fall out! its actually functions as the spring. dont loose and make sure you put it in the correct side up?

The only easy fix might be to lightly sand the little triangular metal piece and reinstall.

I replaced mine with a switch that lights up and saved the original switch
the original switch is a bad design, along with other switches on the car I might add
just wire in a switch for the inspection and then put the old one back in later
he just needs to see the lights work
    its a car
    not the space shuttle!
