Holy crap Rob you are the man! Just came across this thread, you are truly living the dream my friend. I love how you make everything yours. It’s one thing to buy a big boat/house but to have the vision to transform it into something unique and to execute flawlessly is beyond impressive. Any updates from the past year? Did you end up trading up or making further upgrades? Whatever you decided I’d love to see some more pictures
Thanks! We are actually in the Exumas now - just came to Staniel to tie up for the wind and rain tonight and then back out - a few drone shots from this trip- never gets old ! So I'm out walking the dog and what should appear? A big ass boat not being pulled by reindeer. SeaAxis going up the New River in Ft Lauderdale. Beautiful boat. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Exumas were awesome as usual..... pictures just don't do it justice. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not that small. It's just that your boat is so large there aren't a lot of them and Ft Lauderdale is the best place in the world to have anything serviced on them. You end up seeing a lot of the same big boys FTL, the Exumas, Atlantis, Newport and Nantucket.
Thanks, but it's smaller than most of the ones I see around these days. Back in it's day it was one of the larger ones if not the largest Heesan had produced... but that was a long time ago! Atlantis looks crazy all shut down with no boats, anything.. But Big Major and those areas all had the normal attendance you would expect this time of year... We had to provision in Fort Lauderdale and fly over with everything in tow.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
You had your own Navy going up the New River. A tug in the front, Sea Axis, a tug on the rear and a 40’ish tender. For a moment, I thought it was an invasion.
I've never been there but my captain says we need a tug up there for insurance and safety purposes... Docked at LMC during hurricane season.
Your captain would be 1000% right. The place where I took the picture is an S curve (tarpon bend)with a bunch of current. Side note- back in the day they filmed Tarzan there. Elephants and the whole shebang. The rear tug on your boat was sideways keeping the big boy headed the right direction. I hate taking my boat up the river and I have a small boat. The good news is that where Sea Acis is now is about as safe and sound as you can get.
Total wild guess but if that's where I think it is you're looking West out of the entrance of Atlantis. The boat is pointed North.
Yeah that’s Bay Street across the water where we keep it between chargers - I just checked and they depart tomorrow on a new charter .
That's when you know I've spent too much time there. I've started using Bay Street as hop on an off. Ripping current through there at times but some of the best conch salad over there.
I saw mention of a boat in another thread, so here I am. That's not a boat... that's a ship! The renovations and upgrades were a fascinating read, thanks for posting! All the best, Andrew.
There is a very nice youtube tour video made, do not know if I should post a link but I think the video was fantastic and I know the couple who shot it from my marina in LA (couple lives on a boat in LA not the actual boat)
