    Just wondering.

It seems to me to keep the car in original condition when a battery is due, I might want to get the oem one.

    Thanks,
    Cheers,

If you can find one. Your located in the US? The OEM battery is sourced in Italy

I wouldn't waste your time or $ when there are so many better replacements out there.

Thanks everyone. I guess I started to think about it because I replaced my son's OEM Mercedes battery that died last night. It was 8 years old, so I was very impressed by as usually I only get 4 to 5 years on a battery and wondered when I have to change the 430 battery what would I do.

    Cheers,
    Corey

Whatever maintenance free battery that fits will work. Interstate is one of the best. OEM means nothing. I got 7 years out of the last Interstate on my 360 that was always hooked up to CTEK.

The primary reason to move on is that the OEM is a vented lead acid battery. IE: it can leak. That is why there was a vent/drain hose that attached to the battery (at least it was on the 360, not sure on the 430). Battery tech has moved on a lot since then. The new batteries are AGM, weight less, and don't/almost can't leak.

I had the same experience. My Interstate battery lasted 7 years using a CTEC. I was very pleased

Funny - I had a factory battery fail after just one year in a brand new Toyota Camry.

The current OEM battery is AGM, part number 312188, and has been for some years.
The old part numbers 168852 and 214466 has been replaced by 312188.

This is my 5 year old AGM battery from my F430 - it's still good.

How much did it cost 5 years ago? Have you priced it currently? Just curious.

No idea what it costed 5 years ago, as it was in my car when I bought it.

From Eurospares, the Ferrari OEM AGM battery it's currently EUR 340 inc VAT.
A Bosch or Varta brand equivalent AGM battery is around EUR 250-300.
A noname equivalent AGM battery for around EUR 200.

Thanks. Sorry I didn't see that you are located in Europe. I'm sure pricing may be different here in the states. Just was looking for a comparison. But even at 340EUR (about $400 US dollars) it's not as bad as I thought. But still twice as much as my Interstate I just bought. And who knows, the OEM offering here in the states may even cost me more than $400.

    Regards, Ken

312188 @ Ricambi is $685 o_O, so I guess its better to get a local equivalent battery for less when located in the US.

And can you imagine what the shipping's going to be from Ricambi on a battery?!!

I can literally buy three Interstate batteries locally for that price. And the Interstate battery I just installed has a 3 year free replacement warranty. Theoretically, that's 9 years worth of battery life for $214.94 US dollars. o_O

The OEM battery is not very good. Best advice is to replace with an AGM battery which is better, will not leak and costs much less.

If you’re even thinking about paying $685 for an OEM battery, consider a lithium ion from Antigravity instead.
