    Hi Everyone.

Looking for some input and ideas. My 458 is going to Merlin soon for a refresh.
    • All the soft plastics are being sent to StickeyRX
    • Racing Seats swapped in after being recovered in PISTA pattern
    • Leather Dash recovered
    • Leather Gauge Pod recovered
So to accomplish this, the interior is taken out, dash is removed, etc.

    This leads to opportunity.
    • Can I swap in a later version of the infotainment that has Carplay?
    • Install pit speed module.
    • I would like to add a radar detector / laser jammer. Thoughts?
I have a '13 Spider, picked it up with 8100 miles in February and she just ticked over 12500. I drive it a lot. :D

Now to answer the question before it is asked. The previous owner had this car tied up in a divorce and she was left out in the Georgia sun for a long time before he got it back under his care. So damage was done to the interior pieces.

From a performance perspective I am thinking about:
    • Kline Headers w/ wrap
    • Kiline 200 cell Race Cats (maybe wrapped, unsure if you should wrap cats)
    • Kline Valvetronic Rear Can
    • Novitech Springs
What else would you do or review if you were going to have the car down for 4-6 months.

Looking for opinions and areas I may not be thinking of.

    Thanks in advance guys!

Replace the fan speed controller while the dash is apart. They occasionally go bad and the part is only $200-300.

Not sure you can easily swap the infotainment. It's part of the CAN BUS so it's fairly integrated as is.

If you want to get the full advantage of the exhaust, get a tune. I'd choose headers from a company who have a tune that match if you don't have a good tuner in your area.
Adding headers without a tune can cause a lean condition.
Perhaps consider Capristo or Novi headers with a Novi tune. Both are tried and tested safe combinations. The stock manifolds are terribly inefficient and running lean without a tune is a very real possibility.
You can also opt for Fabspeed headers and tune. Their thne should also work for Novi and Capristo headers.

It's not that I have anything against Kline, but I have no personal experience with them or know of any data that proves their efficiency. I won't suggest what I don't know.

There is also the BMC high flow air filter.

PPF. Reglue the headliner. Is the four to six months for StickyRX? I'm dreading that down time and just living with some sticky buttons.

I also have a '13 Spider and drive it a lot too. You're supposed to.......

Can't help you with Apple CarPlay, etc. I can say when I drive the car, I really don't need any other distractions (I got the premium HiFI and XM radio and don't use it).

I also had the sticky buttons (hot FL sun) and had my dash disassembled and the buttons shipped to Sticky No More. They also do great work, and I've been happy with the results.

Initially I upgraded to FabSpeed, but wanted a bit more aggressive sound, so I did the SS Kline exhaust and soon will put in the 200 CEL cats in the fall. It's a big difference just with the exhaust, and the cats will make it even louder and higher pitched. I also have the Capristo Wizard to squelch possible codes.

I may do the Novitech Springs next spring (no pun intended) because I like the look, but I don't want to change out wheels - we'll see.

What else would I do if my car were down for 4-6 months? Maybe wrap it (I did the whole car). 4-6 months is a long time for the car to be down for those changes. I did my stuff piecemeal.

Find yourself a good Indy that can maintain most or all of your car, as yours will soon float out of the Ferrari 7 year service. I keep on top of fluids, tires, wipers, etc. with a great local provider.

For radar, go with Radenso Pro M with ALP. Escort Max 360ci is also a suitable option, although I recommend the Radenso ALP more. Avoid K40 at all costs.

What is more critical is the installer knowledge. I've seen waaaay to many $5000 radar systems installed with laser jammers put behind mesh grills or pointed off to random directions. If your installer even suggests putting laser jammers behind a grill, do not use that installer as they clearly don't know how laser jammers work in the most basic sense.

Finally, please post your reupholstered seats when they are done. I'm really curious on how an aftermarket professional replicates the newer factory design.

StickeyRX is about a month. Leather is about 4~6 weeks. I am using the time to leave the car over winter and give everyone time to complete their tasks. No rush, you know.

So you like the Kline? Did you wrap the headers? I am having Merlin (forum sponser) do all the work. Wade has been super helpful thus far.

Yes, it is significantly more aggressive than the FabSpeed. The car rumbles at lower RPMs at throttle release, and is higher pitched at higher RPMs. I didn't touch the headers and have yet to do the cats, but I have the CEL 200s in my garage awaiting fall install.

I also wrapped the windows (necessary here in FL). Much talk here about flashing out the jerky throttle response - I got a quote (I think it was less than $1.5 K from MASE), but it doesn't bother me much. At some point you just have to enjoy what you have..........

And yes to the above poster about the radar systems and install......spot on. I posted pics of mine somewhere (search jammin').

Id be curious about any before after phots you get. I have a 2015 spider with now ~15k miles (added 4k since January). The interior is quite pristine but I just know that buttons and leather will go at some point and I plan on my kids inheriting this thing so it'll need a facelift at some point.

It came with a K40 radar/jammer. The radar is great but I have no idea how well the laser works. I think since Covid that cops just dont care anymore around here. Everyone says this system sucks so I'd be curious how others work.

Jerky throttle response? More so than factory, or that is what you are referencing? I have just learned to be easy on my input. I drive around in CTOFF so she slides around more freely without traction control kicking in immediately like RACE.

As for the tune, why couldn't we run a Novitec Tune on a Kline exhaust? I would presume they would act about the same once HFC and Headers are installed.

As for tinting, I am going to do that as well, you are right Florida is tough with clear glass, plus i want to stop all the UV from coming in. Going to do the windshield as well. They have some nice almost clear options that take out glare and block 99% of UV.

I will be asking Wade to take pictures throughout the process and will share them here. I absolutely love my 458 and don't see parting with her either. I have some other cars I will be adding and then in a few years may swing back around to a PISTA Coupe.

I feel you. I am thinking about dropping her in October, so I get it back in January and can enjoy the tail end and into spring. The other side of this is I have to have it inspected @ Ferrari by February to extended the powertrain warranty. I am planning on doing it for one more year.

So here is the example I want to replicate. I am thinking invert the red to black to match the current seat config. No white piping as that isn't in my car anywhere. Yes on the italian flag center strip.

I attached another picture of my seats removed and the carbon being polished out. You can see the overall colors and the factory seats in the corner. They are also all black with red inserts. Unsure if I would copy the seats as shown as that is a lot of red inside.

Many questions for you about the seats. First, though, thumbs up using Wade! He is always helpful and great to work with.

Based on my research, I didn’t think a swap of standard to race seats could be done without big issues and massive cost. Not to mention just finding the seats.

So, are you aware of any problems with the swap, and where did you procure the seats? I’m going to have to go bother Wade once your car gets in the shop.

Wanna sell your old seats? I have a red over black 14 spider and those would add some nice pop to an otherwise ver black interior :)

I had the Pit Speed (AKA cruise control) option installed at my Ferrari dealership because the CAN BUS system needs to recognize this option via programming. Once installed you will see messages in the left dash screen indicating the status of the cruise control. That message looks just like the "Bumpy Road" shock setting. In the right dash screen there will be a green cruise control icon when the option is activated. The system installed was about $2,000.

I really like it because on long trips or on the freeway, I can modulate my speed in 1 mph increments by merely turning the cruise control knob. This alleviates the twitching throttle problem and allows me to relax my right foot more.

If I could have a dream come true while the dash is out it would be to relocate the left and right turn signal arrows that are poorly placed on either side of the tacho!

    To the OP,
Are your original Daytona seats full power with memory or basic power without memory?

I have done a tremendous amount of research on the race seat conversions including speaking to Wade and connecting with most folks on this site who have tried it. Only a few have gotten it to work fully.

If you get stuck with the seat conversion, PM me. If you have full power seats, I don’t think Wade will be able to get it done...

It was actually your origianl thread about it or post that got me on the hunt for the module. :)

I found one in Europe for 550 bucks versus the 1400 the dealer wanted. So going to have Merlin ship this one out to StickeyRx just to they are all the same and then have the dealer program it after the car is back together.

I have full power w/ memory.

From my understanding you have to pin out the harness and then build a relay pack. Maybe an oversimplification ...
