What diagnostics have you done? I am in the middle of a speedometer rebuild myself.. bought the sensor "just because" and it turns out after basic diagnostics its the speedo drive board on mine.

Just document the change. You should be fine.

My 308 was originally a European car with a metric odometer. It was changed to a miles odometer in the early 1980s. It’s been well documented and I don’t think it would hurt resale value.

Pulse Generator already swapped with new unit. Did not correct the issue

Thanks Matt - I agree. My 348 has great service history and all mileage should look consistent without any major gaps. A new unit may make the most sense as the used units are being sold at a premium. Seems odd to ask $500 when you can buy new for the same price.

Take a photo of old & new together - maybe even with a newspaper or similar to evidence date

Can you buy a used one and use the boards and electronics from the new used one on the old one, effectively keeping the old speedo and mileage?

From a guy calling himself “Jedi”, you have the audacity to berate a guy in a forum calling you “Dude” as a term of endearment?

Actually Dude, it sounds as though maybe you just wish everyone else had been taken for a mug, the way you obviously were.

“Don’t be so naive?” Do the rest of this 348 owners’ forum a favour, and stop being such a sanctimonious Jar Jar winker.

**update** Just checked the date of the Dude’s post. Didn’t delete my reply because it’s wound me up so much .

What the hell? You single out a perfectly legitimate post from ELEVEN YEARS ago to pop a vein?

amazing.... "Lifeboatboy" - talk about goofy user names.

    LoL!

    43 posts in 8 years too. That's 5.3 posts a year.
You should be honored he responded. Very rare. :)

Personally, I wouldn't want to drive a Ferrari around with my speedo not working and a Check Engine Light illuminated.

Maybe I'm looking too deep, but "Lifeboatboy" could be someone who has survived a journey on a flimsy craft from an impoverished, war-torn country and made good in his new home. Or perhaps a member of the RNLI

Or, on the other hand, a troll

WHY DEBATE AN ELEVEN YEAR OLD POST?

His knickers were in a twist because I don't like being called DUDE and made it known. That's it.

Yep - that's a troll in my book.

    Surreal in fact.......

Just to be clear, I'm not defending his use of DUDE. I hate the word, but then I'm old-fashioned.

I think we can debate the legitimacy of your comment on speed sensor unplugging on a 348/355 forum, however. I suspect Lifeboatboy was doing the same in his own words.

I read about doing this and once I purchase a new unit I may consider this as an option of it is a simple enough task. I'd hate to have a speedo that appears to be tampered with. Then again I drive the car and its not a ultra low mileage garage queen. She's quite clean and a rare color but not a collection piece

Ok. I have to know. Why do your knickers get in a twist if someone calls you dude? That's actually more surprising than the reply to an 11 year old post. hahaha.
