Since this really the only 355 I've driven, is it normal that with the passenger side mirror the cars seem closer than they are? I feel like the mirror is giving me an extra blind spot.

The 355's mirrors are non-convex mirrors. so yes they offer a very limited amount of visibility. Some people swap in a Kia optima mirror to improve vision. I kind of like the blue tint at the factory mirrors have though

Make sure they are adjusted properly. 95% of people don't know how to adjust their mirrors (yes including Ferrari owners)

If you see a large chunk of your own car in the mirror, move them out more. In many cars you don't want to see any of your own car in your side mirrors. I don't think you can avoid that completely in the 348/355, but you can get close.

I agree with Brian. Make sure your passenger side mirror is adjusted properly.

I prefer an accurate view of nearby cars while I'm on the track. Even with my helmet on, I've never felt that my view was inadequate with the OEM mirror.
