It definitely sounded better in my head. I do thank everyone for pitching in about this. I'm not ending up in Switzerland (at least for now) but at least I've taken a few lessons from all the comments about the values for the TDF. Definitely not the right car for my age and position from what I've understood as well. I'll be happy to get a nice 812 end of this year or the start of next year as my first Ferrari.

that's one TDF i do like, the stripe and colors go well with all the add-on aero bits that looked... well... added on to a clean F12 design.
I am trying to figure out what premium RM Sotheby is charging the buyer for this online auction. The only % I could fine online was that it was 10% on top of the hammer price. I found it in an RM Sotheby's FAQ. Does anyone know definitively?
I am surprised how well these are holding up, clearly a great car. Illiquid asset as many people can’t sell as have negative equity on finance. Can pay say $5000PCM but not the $100,000 plus to get out.
It’s interesting everyone agrees with that NA stuff and I used to but I drove a Taycan Turbo with some scepticism and its totally staggering, Handling and steering feel also much better than my 812. Goodness knows how these electric cars will be in 5 years. Like comparing a fighter jet with a propeller plane re my 812.
Spot on as ever Darius - people still really not getting it to my mind, game has changed on every front
https://rmsothebys.com/en/home/bidding-conditions/?termsId=200 8.2. The Online Only Auction will have the following Buyers’ Premiums: 8.2.1. RMA will receive a Buyers’ Premium of 10% on all motor car lots.
5000 pounds of heft, hours to re-charge (unless you have a dealer nearby) after only 2 hours of hard driving, can only provide a few minutes of full power before backing off, makes such things useless, especially if it takes a couple hours just to get to a great driving spot, much less getting back..
Not in my view, will be all sorts of restrictions, no driving in Cities. Of course I see the other view.
Its so hard to know. It all comes down to what we value. You can easily sit here today and say we all value NA, revs, sound, etc. But 10+ years ago we were all saying we value shifting gears ourselves and these cars are doomed with paddle only shifting. We can see the issues with newer technology today, but we don't often see the improvements coming. I think the TDF will be fondly viewed for a very long time, maybe for ever. Its harder to predict the impact on values. So the old advice is really the only good advice: buy what you love and can afford.
Agree, the charging is a headache for a few more years. At 600 miles range and better network would be compelling. I am more commenting on what a staggering car it is, I would prefer it down a country lane to my 812. Latter feels too big and crashing suspension and of course the 812 is much slower in early stages of acceleration at any speed. I am a very experienced driver having had perhaps 15 Ferrari’s and the Porsche was terrifying fast.
Still shaking and talking to some family to celebrate remotely. Trying to grab some champagne as I type this. Can't believe it, she's mine
Very happy for you Sam! I know it was a sleepless couple days leading up to the auction. Can’t wait to hear it.
