Ok, why do sooo many people type "peddle" instead of "pedal" ?

    I find it extremely strange.

    ped·dle
    /ˈpedl/

    verb
    1. try to sell (something, especially small goods) by going from house to house or place to place.

And have you noticed just as many people type “breaks” instead of “brakes?” And “loose” instead of “lose?”

“My Alpha was loosing to the Camero, so I mashed the loud peddle. Glad I have new breaks to haul me back down.”

And I'm amazed at how many people had their cars restored at airline terminals ("concourse" restorations).

For me, I get itchy over faux-pas involving "your / you're", "there, / their / they're" and "our / are". But I try not to get TOO bent about it unless it's what they do for a living, or it's official print media.
My wife is a 6th grade teacher, but she's from Texas so she can't spell a lick! (Sorry y'all, haha). Her students have learned that there's no shame in going to the dictionary (print or Google) to check how a word is spelled.

Some of my technicians will type up emails that make me cringe; but on review I realize that they're not paid for grammar or spelling skills. Haha

Autofill? Fat-fingering on a small keyboard? On my Android device, the autofill feature for this site is atrocious and frustrating.

Blame it on the language. Why are bough, cough, dough, rough and through all pronounced so differently? (If they were bau, cawf, doh, ruff and thru, there would be no confusion!)

I’d like to believe it is a combination of Autocorrect and typing on Smartphones. My personal favorite Autocorrect error was in 2011 at the end of the Chicago Marathon. I typed, “Just crossed.” to my wife. Autocorrect changed it to, “Just croaked.”

    These sites disagree:

    https://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/cut-the-mustard.html

    https://www.dictionary.com/e/cut-the-mustard/

    https://english.stackexchange.com/questions/23763/what-is-the-origin-of-the-phrase-cut-the-mustard

Aside from the lack of usage citations for "cut the muster", the argument is that one "passes muster" to achieve success, while "cutting muster" signifies failure or lack of discipline, contrary to the accepted meaning.

Personally, I think "cut the mustard" came from conflating mustard with another product of similar coloring, as in: "cut the cheese".

Bad hot dogs will do that.

In lieu of masks, I vote for shock collars for all types of offenses.

The sooner we start on serial language butchers, the better.

I tried to peddle my pedal but was only offered petals. So I hit the crosswalk where a Ped could Xing and I in fact Xinged and went home to my Pet Al - my beloved dog who loves to dog paddle :)

“I could HAVE done it” and NOT “I could OF done it.” The latter is irritating.
