I'm sure there are threads out there, but honestly the steps seem to be so few I just wanted to confirm. Replacing the battery on my 430 Spider for the first time. As I understand it: - open frunk and windows - disconnect battery kill switch - remove panel from passenger floor - disco neg term, disco pos term, undo battery tie down, remove battery - install new battery, reinstall battery tie down, connect pos term, connect neg term - replace panel - reconnect battery kill switch - turn key to accessory mode for at least 30 seconds - start up and enjoy! That about it?
Pretty much, be aware the battery switch is in the negative line. Note which side of the battery the vent pipe is fitted Also use a 10 mm x 1/4 drive deep socket to let off the positive, this should be wrapped in insulation tape so you dont short out on the body.
If the negative terminal is disconnected from the battery, it shouldn’t matter if the socket or ratchet touches a ground, correct? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Wrong, the switch only disconnects part of the negative system, the negative clamp has some auxiliary cables not controlled by the switch.
The question was if the negative terminal is disconnected on terminal on battery would a short happen if wrench touch a positive post to ground and my answer is correct as it wouldn't Your are talking about the switch under bonnet .. and yes it doesn't disconnect all sources So technically we are both correct but answering two different questions Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
Just checked my battery but can’t figure out how to replace the carpeted cover held on by 2 thumb screws Just can’t get it Thanks
The carpet is held down by the alloy plate, using the 4 countersunk allen screws. Not sure what thumb screws you have
The 360 has two thumb screws at the top. There are two hinge pins at the bottomCan’t refit these. Simple removal. What am I missing Thanks
Okay... so I’m guessing whoever had this car before me may have cross threaded or dove so etching screwy. The right 10mm blot comes off the floor panel fine, but the left one just turns and turns and turns and doesn’t loosen at all. Literally spun it 50x and the panel is still locked against the backing. Anyone know of any other way to get to thus freakin battery.
Try putting a pair of diagonal cutters behind the head of the screw while you are turning it. You’ll be slightly prying the screw outwards. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
There’s zero room to put anything behind this nut... I’ve never seen anything like this. I’ve tried putting vise grips on the but and pulling while loosening but nothing is loosening. I can turn this nut a million times but it’s not releasing from the hole and the plates are as tight together as if this thing was fastened on by freaking Hercules. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Put some penetrant on the backside of that bolt and let it soak for a day or so. Maybe it’s corroded from being near the battery. Maybe a little heat from a mini torch will help too. As a last resort, cut the head off. My 430 doesn’t have the screws installed and I never knew until I looked. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
These are not original screws, they are normally just dome head phillips screws with no nuts. I assume someone has stripped the threads and replaced using nuts and bolts. When you get it out you can fit AVK inserts to put it back to OEM.
Vise grip to hold bolt head, drill it out, remove panel, remove stripped rivnut and install a new one.
