    I have the original tender for the 599 which has the socket end (no cigarette lighter), where do I connect this? Is it behind the little door in the right of the trunk? If not where is the correct connector located on the car?

    It is behind that little door just above the battery cutoff switch in my car but could be below as indicated in the manual ...

    Yes, behind the little door on the passenger side of the trunk.
