I was lucky. Out of 50 races covered in the US (ALMS), France, and Italy, these were the only two days I had to shoot in the rain. I have over 10,000 photos when it wasn't raining. Lots of Ferrari...mostly 575M and 430s...
For those that do not know already, the Maserati MC-12 was based largely on the Ferrari Enzo and all the teams in the GT1 class filed protests against the car for being outside the ALMS/Le Mans rules for a GT1 car. Their protests were only marginally successful in that the team was barred from earning points but nevertheless allowed to race. It proved to be a moot point as the car was noncompetitive on US circuits because of its size. It was not nimble but did make a delightful roar.

I have yet to see one in person but I hope they are as attractive as the pictures I have seen. Nice to see a return to feminine lines instead of tabs, sharp lines and F1 appendages.
Bump! Going through my archives and I came across a few under the rain. Snapped during the summer of 2009. More to come..... Image Unavailable, Please Login
As cliché as this photo might be, it's still a treat to properly snap one. Image Unavailable, Please Login
This does not have a picture of my car in the rain but representative of what can happen. In October of 2011 we took tlbc to The Classics of Brantwyn on the old DuPont estate outside Wilmington, Delaware. Unfortunately the rains came just after the last car had been presented to the 250 guests in front of the DuPont Mansion at Brantwyn. It is too bad that no one took any pictures of me driving back down the half mile road to the lot where Matt and Garth had the trailer ramps out and ready for my arrival while I was struggling to keep the umbrella over the cockpit and shifting and steering in the downpour. The display sign says it all. PS tlbc did win Best of Show. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sketchy conditions today...left the renovation project at 17:00 with 13 degc, strong winds and a light sprinkle. About 50km from Paris we crossed a front, temp dropped to 2 degC with wet snow mixed with heavy rain. You know its bad when waze gives you a flood warning on a French auto-route. Saw 2 bad accidents in about 20km, one car flipped in the ditch near a service center exit and a 3 call smash up in the middle lanes. There was a lot of water and too much speed. I have Michelin PS4S on the 612, tires temps at the start 25-30 degC, but by the time I was in Paris they were down to 10 degC. The wet grip is very impressive with these tires.
