I, too, watch the C/4 market. Had one for 15 years (SN 15693) and sold it a few years back. There are 6 on ebay that have been there forever. The BAT car appeared to be a good example, even if it was red. Surprised it exceeded $200K, which indicates there are still buyers with money for these cars. The example on Sheehan's site, again red, seems like a really great car with all the documented work done on it. Still asking around $250K.

The results of RMSothebys driving into the summer do not bode well. I actually have a car from another brand in this sale and it looks like it’s going to get back home. Which I don’t mind, because I like it a lot...

That’s consistent with the auction description, which made clear the car had not led a life of care, cosseting and concours compliance for many years. But I imagine you’re thinking that the refurbishment could have resolved the issues you pointed out.

I reckon that was a bit of a bargain for the lucky new owner. I think it may be indicative of the fact that that site (and other BaT imitators on this side of the Atlantic) are not yet properly established as go to places to buy valuable cars. They sold a beautiful Dino recently for what looked like a bargain to me. The other contributory factor, of course, is the financial uncertainty resulting from Cornonavirus, which I believe is depressing the entire car market, new, secondhand and classic alike.

what bubble. That Pista brought good money. I think there is a move away from carbureted stuff. Saw that starting with Harley's for years. Then Hot rods. Now F-cars? Just sayin'.

Besides a 355 selling for 45k at the Mecum auction this week, looks like it's full steam ahead. A project GTC brought near 500 on BAT, and Mecum, known for muscle car sales etc will show something about the market over the next few days. Quite a few F cars coming up for a muscle car/ America centric auction company. Check out their listings. Use to be the place to buy an F car, maybe the 355 was a deal as it was a rare targa, or maybe not. Could have been a can of worms. Pictures of engine bay looked sketchy to me, like the 360 Stradale coming up.

Check out the remaining cars and watch live.

We are looking at real estate and it is showing the same trend, up and up more. What will happen with this election? When will all these jobs that might not be coming back hit the fan? folks have been saying give it 6 to 8 months...stay tuned!

8193 had a restamped engine. Makes easily a difference of 15%, especially in today's market.

but still quite a low price for a decent alloy 275, although taxes and costs should be added. According to me the price of an alloy 275 are about 2.2-2.7 m eur.
I don’t think these online auctions works for these cars. The 6 Weber’s sold for a firm or price though :)

    ciao

Market going up or down doesn't make me like the cars I have any more or any less. Good cars with great history are still trading hands privately for somewhat close to "normal" money. It is hard for the auction houses to create the same enthusiasm for bidding on cars at auction when you do not have the emotion and co-validation of the others bidding in the room creating that feeling of safety.

Hello Marcel, perhaps I am less beyond real prices than thought? Or is the white 275 at RM very special car even being a steel car vs alloy?

Anyway good cars fetch still good money I guess...

    ciao
