I don't know, and my Dutch isn't as good as it used to be.

Hopefully the OP, @VetroresinaNL, can give us an update. Here's "in the vicinity".

it doesn't seem too corroded or covered with mud/weeks/slime.

Could it be a recent accident? Or insurance scam?

It looks like the door/window is covered with a yellow tarp. Was there a body in the car?

No body in the car. But seems all intact, although the police says it is completely rusted trough. Car was reported stolen at the time. 26 years ago. Image Unavailable, Please Login

    26 years in the water!

And still is recognizable. And actually looks pretty good!

I think this should be an advertisement for Mondial Quality!!!

What puzzles me is the passenger door that is missing. It looks rather as if it was opened recently by force, like when they cut open cars to get casualties out.
But defenitely an advertisement as to being corrosion resistant !

The divers opened it by force, standard procedure when they find cars in water to see if there is a corps.

More pics :) since my neighbour's son has a nice view :)

That car may have been reported stolen 26 years ago, but I doubt it was in the water that long. Someone probably had it squirreled away for years and decided they better get rid of it before the cops showed up.

Our waters are known to preserve things that fell/went into the water. The first pic you see mud/clay substance, but it is not really mud or clay. That is the key that things preserve. We find animals, ships and even corpses with clothing of 700 years ago among other things in our canals and ground that are preserved for decades or centuries :)

Geez, that is rather fascinating. Is it salt, fresh or brackish, and is the temp naturally cold?
