I share your opinion. They could have spared themselves another palace revolution and kept the Marlboro man.
Arrivabene may have been an acquired taste, but continuity can be a good thing sometimes. l

Sergio placed him under alot of pressure from what I read. I had posted something from Autosport that was about the Arriva / Sergio relationship. It did not sound fun to be under Sergio. It was sounding like Arriva was not the real problem at the time.

Sergio, love him or hate him, would not stand for the current state of affairs.

Now, they really need someone in charge below Camilleri with knowledge and experience of running a (successful) racing team. Binotto can go back to tech role.

Well, not under a system that makes the teams keep the same design for next year.

I feel Binotto is spread too thin. Since he was made manager we have felt that impact negatively in engineering and the car hasn’t been as competitive since.

F1 Styrian GP: Renault lodges protest against Racing Point cars - this will be denied from what was put out on SKY this morning. Racing Clone's stated the FIA are happy with the car. Its different enough supposedly. We shall see.

    https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/150536/renault-lodges-protest-against-racing-point-cars

Renault has lodged a formal protest against both Racing Point Formula 1 cars following Sunday's Styrian Grand Prix.

It comes amid concerns from Renault over a possible breach by Racing Point of F1's ban on customer cars and shared parts over the similarities between the Racing Point RP20 and Mercedes' 2019 title-winning W10.

Renault is known to have been considering a protest against Racing Point for some time over the matter, but opted against doing so in the first Red Bull Ring race last weekend.

Racing Point put in an impressive display at the Red Bull Ring on Sunday as Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll finished sixth and seventh respectively, beating Renault's Daniel Ricciardo to eighth at the line.

But Renault has now launched an official protest against both Racing Point cars, confirmed by the stewards in a bulletin on Sunday evening.

The stewards' report confirmed there was a "protest lodged by Renault DP World F1 Team, alleged breach of Art. 2.1, 3.2, Appendix 6 Paragraph 1, 2(a) and 2(c) of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations 2020 during the Race."

The early articles stress that all competitors must ensure their cars are fully eligible to enter the championship, something Renault is protesting Racing Point is in breach of.

The cited articles in Appendix 6 of the sporting regulations read that: "A competitor shall, in respect of the Listed Parts to be used in its cars in Formula One, only use Listed Parts which are designed by it."

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

"The obligation to design and use Listed Parts shall not prevent a competitor from Outsourcing the design and/or manufacture of any Listed Parts to a third party (including an Associate of such competitor) provided that:

"It retains the exclusive right to use the Listed Parts in Formula One so long as it competes in Formula One.

"In the case of the Outsourcing of design, such third party shall not be a competitor or a party that directly or indirectly designs Listed Parts for any competitor."

Racing Point has been open in its plan to base the design of the RP20 car on last year's Mercedes, and took a number of listed parts from Mercedes as part of their technical collaboration.

McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl has regularly referred to Racing Point's car as "last year's Mercedes", but said in Austria last week there were "no grounds" on which to submit a protest.

A short statement from Renault reads: "We confirm that Renault DP World F1 Team has submitted a request to the Stewards of the Event for clarification on the legality of the Racing Point RP20.

"We have no further comment on this matter until the Stewards have arrived at a decision."

What is really lost and what is so damning is that Ferrari was handed a golden opportunity to turnaround their struggles. We have heard for a few years now how
they have a major issue in aero correlation with on track performance. This was a GOLDEN opportunity to get on top of that. Exact same track a week apart, exact same temperature.

A perfect opportunity with real, repeatable data.

Thanks Charlie for screwing that up!

LC truly left his mark on his team- way to go "***hole." This did not hurt the next few races, this season, but the future.

    That was a huge blunder!

What he did will have a draconian effect on the future. A truly missed opportunity all for the sake of showing up Vettel. Idiot.

Again, huge mistake in putting all their eggs on LC and on Bozo. Ultimately it was Bozo's responsibility to keep his drivers and his "boy" in check and impress upon them the necessity of data gathering in lieu of a few points on an already lost campaign.

The fault is Bino's. Vettel shouldn't be driving into CL after he saw him.

Yep, it's either correlation issues via CFD or wind tunnel or both.

Agree with most of it, time out on Sainz though, for me he just doesnt have the race craft as a front runner. CL has thrust himself into the hot seat way to early and especially at SF team. He wont cope with the media and internal wranglings.

Any Michelle says is good for me especially if wearing the catwoman suit :) !!

Ugh. This race was one to forget.

Good attempt by Verstappen at a fightback on Bottas' overtake though. That was good racing.

    All the best,

regardless of this, Stroll should have been penalized for driving Ricciardo off the track while making a pass. It was Ricciardo’s skill which allowed both drivers to continue. Stroll’s ham-handed pass should not be allowed to be duplicated without penalty

It is things like this make makes me wonder if FIA are actively trying to kill off F1. Ferrari are toast for 2020, 2021. Why bother even showing up if you aren't allowed to complete in a competitive sport. MB get to keep DAS while Ferrari had to abandon some mysterious engine thing. The whole thing is beyond ridiculous.

Question:: Why not make the rear wing a replaceable component just like the front wing.

The front wing is held on by 4 little cam locks that can hold some 2,000 pounds of downforce.
Why not attach the rear wing with 4 ever so slightly bigger cam locks so it can be replaced in 12 seconds?

It couldn't add but a few oz. to the total weight of the car, and could save races.

I smell conspiracy. Binotto advises both drivers to collide with each other early. He can then claim the ‘updates’ were never meant to improve qualifying, but over a full race distance, the advantage would be MORE than obvious..... .

    The man’s a damn Flavio-style evil genius.

    This week.
