Howdy folks, I posted in the New Member forum and was told I should also introduce myself here as well. So, here it is. I just very recently purchased a 1998 Ferrari 355 F1 GTS in Giallo Modena, in fact, so recently it still on the truck on it's way to me lol. I currently own a very rare 1993.5 Lotus Esprit (1 of 5 in Canada and 1 of 62 worldwide) and 3 Ducatis. I have wanted a Ferrari 355 for ages, well... since 1995 when I first saw one in a magazine! I was looking to buy one about 3 years ago, however, this Lotus came up and I just couldn't say no. So, the Ferrari had to wait a few more years, but now it's on the way and I am super stoked! I am very active in our Ducati club and hope to get the same enjoyment and new friendships from a local Ferrari club soon. That's it for now Cheers, Cy Image Unavailable, Please Login
I went from an Esprit here in the UK a long time ago... Image Unavailable, Please Login to a 348. Hope you enjoy your 355. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congratulations on your new ferrari, looks amazing I to have 3 Ducatis, I have visited the factory twice now. Great place to visit if your ever in Europe.
Thanks! What are your Ducs? My plan was to go to Italy this fall for about a month and rent a bike to tour the country, Swiss Alp and end up on Monaco. But... Covid kinda put a hold on that I have a Sport Classic Monoposto, a 2020 SuperSport S and a Monster 796 as a daily.
2006 Paul Smart sport classic, 2015 Diavel Carbon red, 2014 1199 Panigale S. I have an MV F4 RR also, to keep it all Italian
Welcome, Cy! I also went from a Steven's Esprit to a F355. I had an '89 midnight blue/magnolia Turbo SE for 16 years. Learning how to fix the Esprit gave me the confidence to do some of the spannering on my 355, but there was a steep learning curve on both cars. They are completely different beasts. Thank god for the generosity of forum and car club members.
Quoting one website: Unfortunately, it looks like that includes an ugly airbag. Cy, did the 93.5 have revised gearbox linkages for smoother shifting? i.e. linkages on the right hand side of the gearbox. At least you won't have to worry about the rubber impeller on the chargecooler pump... or was the mechanical pump replaced by an electric pump on the 93.5?
Thank you, Essentially, the S4 (series 4) Esprit was released to the world in 1993, however, in North America due to new DOT bumper laws the new design of the S4 was unable to pass DOT and therefor was delayed. So what Lotus did was take a new S4 and deliver it with the older S3 bumpers, side skirts, wheels, brakes and a few other things on it. This was split into 2 phases. Phase one included the S4 body, rear deck with flying buttresses rather than the S3 glassback, larger pedal box and the S4 wider opening doors. The Phase two model included those plus S4 exterior door pulls, door cards, revised interior, alarm, and a few mechanical changes. Mine is a phase two, now an S4 with S3 bumpers and wheels. 62 cars were made overall with just 5 of those made for the Canadian market (where I live and 57 to the US) and of those 5 only 1 was white, that one is mine. I have the only white 1993.5 Lotus Esprit in the country. That's rare. Not counting that they made fewer Lotus Esprites over 25 years than F40s were made by Ferrari in just a few years. I live just outside Toronto, Ontario Canada. Cheers,
Yes, it has the same airbag I had in my 95 GM minivan back in the day lol. I know the phase two got some mechanical changes, but not sure exactly what. I do think the gearbox linkage was revised, unsure about the chargecooler pump though. Maybe if you find out you can let me know? lol. Cheers,
Welcome and great choices! I had a 1960 Lotus 7 and always wanted an S4, but not yet. I thought you might like to see my garage: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks. It’s the wrong cover over an old 1000 SS Duc. Yes, that’s my +4. Guess I’m bi-polar; Ferrari & Duc vs. Morgan & Harley.
That's one red garage! Lol. Love it! Jealous of the tall garage ceiling. I can't put a lift in with a 7'10" garage height. Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk
Man of my own heart! I've had a Lotus Exige V6 (monster car and very underrated amongst the snobs!) and currently own a f355. I also have a few Ducati's in the shed. A pristine 996S and a 1098R. You got some good taste my man!
