I'm sure you recall the negative feedback when I complimented the 720. Now its almost the same with the Pista. These are the best of the best and people go out of their way to disparage someone else's choice. In some cases it was people with zero experience. Their opinions really mean nothing. I got blown up for saying this before. Fortunately I could could give a ****.

I’ve made my view on this topic clear in the past. But to each their own. Why argue over who’s right and wrong when there’s cars that satisfy all of our tastes?

Also, I have never understood all the hate thrown at the 488 with regards to sound. I think it’s a sweet sounding car and in reality it is quite vocal. In fact, at lower speeds I would argue it makes a louder and sweeter sound than the 458. Obviously it can’t replicate the insane banshee wail of a 458 strung out to 9,000 rpm, but it is overall a very satisfying sound, at least to my ear.

My main concern, as I have expressed in the past, is where we’re going with the future (entirely pointless) noise regulations. The new LB will be over 5 times quieter than the current offerings. That scares me and that is absolutely crossing the line where the trade-off in sound is not worth the increased performance.

It is puzzling when the finest super cars currently in existence are disparaged. Nostalgia aside, this is the golden age of high end sports cars. There are more equally stellar examples available and as enthusiasts, we should all be grateful and energized.

There's just something special about hearing an exotic car coming before seeing it... You hear that unique exhaust note in the distance and immediately feel the anticipation that something really amazing is about to appear... Whether you're an owner, a car enthusiast, or just a casual bystander who knows little to nothing about cars.. Everybody recognizes that "tone" and just knows something exciting is about to make a grand appearance.

This is clearly a subjective matter.. For me, it's a shame these exotic exhaust notes and the phenomena surrounding them are soon to be extinct. I get it, people adapt with the times.. A generation or two into the future, and nobody will think anything of it.. The exotic cars will all be practically silent and nobody will care.

    Sound is important to me.
I am not stating that it is the most important quality but it is a factor in why I choose to drive a certain car.
But so too, the other senses are also important in order to stir up my adrenaline - feel, visual, smell....
There are people that spend thousands on audio systems, similarly owners change their exhaust for a certain audio.

As far as performance or “feel”, most cars are “electrified” and essentially feel numb to me these days. I’d rather feel the chatter of a clutch, or the pebbles in the road, direct steering and road feel. If one wants to feel instant speed, Tesla’s will smoke most F cars off the line.
I’ll hold on to the last of the Mohicans and that’s what I will collect....

Markets are way different. Look at your taxes on a vehicle at these highs. The tax you pay is nowhere close to ours. On my $600 k $190 k was tax . LOST. Ferrari made sure when the 488 GTB was released that ANYBODY could purchase it , that is no history. As such MANY did buy the 488 GTB as I did.
Little did I know or anyone that the PISTA and the release of the F8 would kill the 488 GTB. My upgrade to the F8 will cost $250 k . Im not stupid why would l ? of that $200 k will go to the tax man.
Wait till the F8 buyers see what their F8 will be worth after the LB comes out.
Understand I don't give a rats on depreciation. For me its the Delta and now its ridiculous for a car of this level.
How lets look at the 458 owner , over here they got shafted even more , Why ? because at the time the AUD was going over 1.10 USD but we were nearly triple the price of the same car in the US, Go figure. Then when the 488 GTB came out there were extras as standard and the price was even reduced. Swap from 458 to 488 GTB was nearly 100% more. Not many takes I can tell you.
That's why the volume of 458's for sale here are basically non existent , about 5 cars for the whole of Australia.

Couldn't imagine anyone wanting to pay 5m for a car without being provided properly trained warranty and service support back, up on a national level.

Doubt a used prestige car dealer would be a place where buyers would feel comfortable taking their 5m toy to.

Sound is one of several senses we all use to evaluate something. Losing it is akin to being blind and having to comment on the cars looks or losing your sense of smell or taste and having to comment on food only by its looks.
I’m sure a lot of outer space sci-fi movies would be much more boring minus the sound (since there is none in space)- kinda like 2001 a Space Odyssey(minus the classical music score- for those who love the film)
I for one voted with my wallet after my 488 and moved to an 812

Sound matters for sure but its the total package that makes it work. I can compromise some sound if the rest of the package is on point.

I don’t know why people keep posting about Tesla and talking about cars with zero sound. Not a single person has said sound is not a critical factor. It is. It’s not the most critical factor to many of us who value performance over sound.

This doesn’t mean I value the performance of a Tesla over a Ferrari. I don’t. There is a limit.

But compare the 488 to 458. Sound is undeniably better on 458, however the 488 to me a superior car in every other metric.

Let’s keep the conversation on point and not delve into la la land about electric cars when not a single person has stated they prefer the acceleration of a Tesla to any Ferrari because it’s faster.

I honestly don't think I am prepared to accept any less sound quality or less volume than a Pista or 488 with controller added, which is needed and should have been in the car as standard to begin with.

Looking over the latest review on SF90 it's clear the pro driver was unable to pin the throttle wide open for any more than a second or two in any more than one or two gears even on a race circuit which confirms once you get to a particular power level it becomes increasingly difficult to extract enjoyment out of the engine and car. Being able to wind the motor out gear after gear is such a key part of the driving experience. I truly fail to see the benefit of having 1000hp in an ice vehicle when it would be pulling so hard at the leash. And a fully electric Batista with 1417k3 and 2300nms? It would have to be so frustrating being unable to use all that power and having no engine sound - a very very empty experience emotionally.

Out of all my cars, as good as my Pista is I can honestly say that my 3rs is a more fulfilling experience emotionally as a drivers car through a mountain pass full of tight bends. It has better raw connection and the way you can work that engine toward the max through the gears is just sublime, as is the sound. Incredible driving machine. You simply don't need 720hp for this type of driving or anywhere other than a racetrack with a few very long straights. 1000hp is just stupid and would become emptier and emptier as you put on the miles. The 3rs otoh just keeps giving. Such a rewarding and satisfying experience emotionally. Even 2rs is much the same to fair extent. I just think the way Porsche has set these cars up in such a complete drivers package is utterly amazing. I think as a drivers car the direction Ferrari has taken with these polarising overpowered hybrids is an empty old road to nowhere.

Agree talking about a Tesla or praising a Tesla on a Ferrari forum is extremely bad manners and should be outlawed and punishable by permaban for any breaches no matter how minor.

Just seeing one on the road is bad enough let alone talking about one on a car forum.

To your point as fast as my Taycan Turbo S was it couldn't have been more boring. It lasted 3 weeks. The last few days I've been driving my manual GT3 and it's been an absolute ball. Slow by today's super car numbers but a **** ton of fun. Especially sliding sideways on winding roads.

While Tesla is not my idea of a super car on any level, I am compelled to secure the Roadster with the rocket enhancer. I have to experience the explosive thrust to 60 mph in 1.1 second at least once in my lifetime.

    Let me be truly honest.
Tesla is not my idea of a car in any way shape or form. It is more like whitegoods such as a washing machine or clothes dryer with a steering wheel....a disposable appliance. Who cares how fast it is. Exploding one into a solid block wall at 1.1 sec by remote control would at least be enjoyable to watch knowing there will be one less of them.

Exactly. And it deserves no respect. In fact talking about one in any positive sense removes credibility into a minus situation.

To some of us, a 458 at their current price is what is affordable. Ferrari ownership is a goal for some of us who don't necessarily have the means to continually buy the latest example of the company's latest and finest offerings. In some ways, it increases the appreciation of having one in our garage. I must admit that, personally, I have loved the design, the horsepower and even the sound of the 458 so it has always been a goal of mine to own one since the very first day I saw one.
I would never begrudge anyone for selecting whatever Ferrari makes one happy. Some can put 15 Ferrari's in their garage and some can put one in their garage. I would love to have multiple exotics to play with but that is not in the cards. Being able to afford one sports car at a time has been my reality and
I am blessed to have the means to do that. Everyone enjoy what you have for whatever the reasons you enjoy what you have.
Sometimes it is frustrating to see the goofy responses as we can get territorial and defensive about our decisions.
Enjoy the dang car, period. We are fortunate to have these wonderful machines to drive and maintain and it is fun to connect on these forums about these
purchases. I am officially off my soapbox.

The quality of the build is so poor, it is basically a golf cart with an iPad. I do give them credit for the tech which is lacking in the Taycan.

Yea for true driving fun I love taking out my manual Lotus Evora 400, have done Larini exhaust, decat pipe, cold air intake and 435 hp tune. Sounds amazing for a Toyota Camry motor :)

I have to disagree. Sound is a big piece of the puzzle. The perfect combo is a balance of speed and great sound. To me sound is 60% of what gives enjoyment in driving a high end Sports Cars. I had a Cayman GT4 that needed an exhaust update to feel the exhiliration
of driving . I have a 991.2 GT3 that was also updated with the GMG exhaust. Whole different experience when you hear those pops on downshifts and upshifts with the engine roaring at 9000 rpm. My 458, which has the stock exhaust with the valves disconnected and a BMC high airflow filter, is enough to produce the enjoyment I desire, otherwise I would have upgraded the exhaust. Watch the contrast below

    Watch this first.
