With the new rules practically ensuring more mercedes dominance in the coming years, Merc can quite easily offer him however little they want. Alonso has indicated several times he wants to come back. Renault is as useless as ever, he can tell Mercedes he'll drive for $ per point and he'll get the job done (titles) for a fraction of the cost. Alonso also has an enormous fanbase.

It's the car! Bottas can beat LH and so did Rossberg. LH is more consistent when he is emotionally intact.

Todt has taken the Mercedes coin.

Todt is not standing for re-election.
That's a tiny glimmer of hope for other teams.

I am a fan of Lewis--he drives like my early-age idol Niki.

I am a fan of execution, and Mercedes is simply doing a better job than anyone else this decade.

I am a fan of Ferrari if nothing else for the passion and sense of style.

I bemoan the current situation Ferrari finds itself.

Interesting praise by Ferrari Chairman -

Ferrari praise for Hamilton the driver and the man
Warm words from Ferrari chairman John Elkann for Lewis Hamilton, as the Mercedes driver battles for a seventh drivers' championship on the track and promotes diversity and inclusion off it.

"Hamilton is an exceptional driver and could become the most successful of all time," said Elkann, in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

"His move from McLaren to Mercedes wasn't easy. It wasn't the obvious choice, but it was an intelligent one.

"We really like the civic duty that he's carrying out and it's dear to us."

You would hardly know that listening to the ranker from this F1 sub-section.

A very powerful compliment I think. Very respectful. When Ferrari CEO is saying this one might need to listen a touch.

  19. Indeed. But then....if it came to fruition, whatever would so many on FC do as Lewis is so despised......? ;)

  20. Wellllll.... Look at Lance "Stroll"ing right along in FP2..... Good for him.

And none to shabby for the Hulk, considering.....

Hamilton’s a great driver, but I think the Ferrari CEO should be focused on his team’s embarrassing display instead of fawning over their rival.

And what makes you think he's not? The man's got a few more items on his plate then that.....it's called delegation of responsibilities. He doesn't design, construct, or develop the cars. He's the CEO of the company. A simple announcement from him has nothing to do with the team. ;)

It would be good to witness him take on a real challenge. Could he be the key component in turning around Ferrari's fortunes, as Niki and then Michael managed to do ?

  24. Indeed. All his good stuff has been in good cars. I haven't a clue what development skills he's got.

He has had the knack of being in the right place at the right time; and that's a skill in itself. Different strokes for different folks.....
