Looks like this thread will get some action this season. Stroll already looks great after Q1.

Well, Lance didn't look too shabby this afternoon.
People don't believe it when I say he is still improving.

A promising start to the season, let's see how it goes when fighting for position. The Pepto Benz has legs.

No excuses to be used this year when driving a clone of the best car the last 6 years lol. He lacks race craft. If he goes backwards Im not surprised. Perez needs to fully dominate him to say the least. Lance looking better is the function of the car as its 10x better than the car they normally build. Confirms how important the car is no LOL :) I have zero support for this team. They are essentially thieves in my opinion. Sure bits and bobs of a car are copied, an entire car is a joke.

Don't hold back; tell us exactly how you feel ....

As for myself, I think my views on the subject are well known.
I have always maintained there are not 10 design teams and engineering shops capable to deliver competitive F1 cars.
That's why I am in favour of customer cars.
A team making a clone of a winning car is the next best thing to a customer car, so, I am OK with it.
I prefer watching good cars competing than just having half the field playing mobile chicanes.
That would also make sense from a financial point of view, since budgets are shrinking, but ...

I fully see your points. Customer cars are needed. I agree its more interesting as more competition is welcome. Cloning is not creative, its a function of funding. Stroll has the funds others do not. He is just doing what Billionaires do - buy a result. Such is life in this over funded world no lol. I will watch all the races and hope Perez fully shows what he can do vs Lance.

Lance again has no excuses - he has a faster car. Is he fast enough to handle it. So far he looks apprehensive more than aggressive and confirms what Brundle and others have stated about his race craft. This car could help him improve but his 'base-line' of talent is well below most on the grid.

The power of money exists everywhere.
In the long run, Perez should get the better of Stroll.
I agree that Stroll's racecraft is inferior to half the field, but we always had cases like this in F1.

    I see business as usual.

whilst he has moved up the grid he is out classed by his team mate; and only moved up the grid due to the car.

still he is midfield so we will see his race craft this year.

Cloning might be the cheapest way a back marker can become a front maker.
You are then only slower than last years winner, which is typically ahead of the second tier leaders.

No, he still looks like crap...he just took were Eriksson left, the worst drive romn the grid....the fact that he's able to be in Q3 just shows what a farse f.1 has become...

Many drivers can qualify well. Its one or a few laps, no confusing start etc. Lance is a great track day instructor...........maybe lol :)

He had issues with the car today but his driving was un-inspired by most measures. He simply lacks the aggression and control needed to win so far. Yes he may develop some but its been YEARS now.

Family owned or influenced team + 'glimpse of talent' = F1 seat. If no money or family no longer in F1, if he was ever paid to drive there at all. Good video. He can drive but he is not a 'racer' to me.

un-inspiring is exactly right. He just drives around. He qualifies ok, starts are normally good for him...but his racing? Just do the laps, try and finish...He's not bad but he's definitely nothing special.

Lance Stroll is not worst than some other drivers who visited F1 at some point.
The rich family connection that keeps him in F1 is what irritates his detractors the most, I think.

IMO, I would hire Charles, Albon, Lando, and Russell......in that order...then Ricciardo.
