I think a lot of people are missing the point here - while ADS/ACC systems undoubtedly have faults [albeit rarely], the F12 is not outfitted with this technology.

Interested to see if it is possible to track down what went wrong.

A bit off topic, but I'll share my experience with electronic safety sensors. Driving a 2015 ML350BT to FL with bicycles hanging on the hitch. It was a long winter conditions(northern half) drive, so we had wrapped the bikes in plastic. Rolling down I81 in NY, the ML suddenly veers into the right lane. Unfortunately, there was a SEMI in the right lane. Wife is screaming at me as I fight the 'auto steering' back to left lane. This happened 2 more times before I pulled over.... ready to take an axe to the car!!!LOL! WTF is going on? Well, it took some time to figure it out, but, we were on our way... shortly thereafter! Problem.... the plastic had started to fray, leaving pieces to flap in the wind. Unfortunately, the plastic, being drafted by the semis' 'draft', would hit the left rear bumper sensors, and the ML took 'evasive action' steering us away from the left rear impact, braking Right side, ....steering us into each semi! OH yeah, who would have thought....! Sometimes, the intelligent cars are not so smart.... LOL!

Driving out of a multi story car park down a steep winding exit in the wet my 3 series BM went over a speed bump decided it was skidding and promptly locked the ABS in cycling mode so I was heading brakeless towards a long drop. Scared the bejesus out of me but by taking foot right
Off brake and reapplying was able to then slow enough to steer round the twist!
Similar problems can happen on snow / ice with ABS and on gravel roads .

Early ABS sucked on some cars. I drove a GM loaner car that would lock the tires on ice below 5MPH. No amount of anything would modulate the brakes. I was so made at the POS that I physically bent the steering wheel.

Don't confuse this thread with facts. Clearly the problem is that Ferraris cannot be driven in the rain. Its listed in the manual right next to the section on autopilot and how to close the sunroof.

These so-called "driver aids" take control of the vehicle away from the driver - no different than the way socialist bureaucrats take control of the government away from the citizens.

Exactly and it seems very strange that brakes would just engage and lock up without any input from he driver.

Did anyone know what exactly happened to that accelerating Lexus in Cali years ago that ended up killing all its passengers? The carpet was supposedly the culprit but that explanation didn't make much sense. From what I have read Toyota and other investigations really couldn't find the actual cause.

I only own cars with throttle cables. You can figure out what I mean.

Not sure why that's important. Have you ever tried a car where the throttle stick open? That can be a bit of an underwear situation.

The 1980s pocket rocket Peugeot 205 GTI had an issue of this type. The problem was the GTI had a thicker (red) carpet than standard models, but standard throttle pedal. Bury the gas in the floor, and it was just that, as I found out one evening outside London when I was 18; the pedal stuck in the carpet. Of course you could just stick the car into neutral but not expecting it, and young, and accelerating fast, I managed to hook my foot under the connecting arm of the pedal and flick it back up before running into a junction.

Interested to know what happened to that F12, which appears to be unrelated either to this, or the issue Marcel outlined with the Mercedes auto "driver aid".

Oh boy do I recall that one. Friend of mine had one of those. The 106 Rallye did the same thing lol. But the 205 GTI was great though:)
